Forums - Nintendo - Codemasters Producer: Wii U is "The Future"

Clive Moody has high-praise for Nintendo's new system
UK-based developer Codemasters may not have any upcoming games - that we know of at least - coming to Wii U, but that doesn't mean the new system hasn't caught its eye.
In a recent interview with News10.net, senior producer at Codemasters Clive Moody said he had played the Wii U, and that so far he liked what he saw:
It works brilliantly, having played it. I think it is the future. I mean, you've only got to look at what's happening in the world of mobile, you've got iPads, Surface just came out from Microsoft. I think you're going to see a lot more of that cross-over, that sort of multi-platform, multi-component experience.
He also spoke a little about the future of gaming in general, saying that although the disc still has a role to play in the gaming industry the downloading of video games through digital channels is something that cannot be ignored. He believes that as soon as the internet's global infrastructure can handle it, we'll be downloading all of our video game - and possibly DVD - purchases through digital stores:
I think ultimately we'll be fully digital, it'll get there.
It's nice to see developers that aren't currently producing anything for Wii U still getting to grips with the new system, and are enjoying what it offers to the industry.

Well, it needs no praise but games.

Yep, my reason to buy the console (together with Lego City, W101 and Pikmin). But to get the sales running the WiiU needs more games, not only praise.

I'm really getting tired of all those hyperboles. It's neither doomed nor the future, it's a good Nintendo console.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Uhm, I wonder what he's basing that on...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

It does have a lot of things going for it that are right. But Nintendo is making a lot of missteps right now.

All companies do at launch, that's a simple fact. Look at the 360 (RRoD) and the PS3 (No GAMEZ!) for examples, but they got fixed and the Wii U will follow suit. Expect the same with their next home console as well.

More interesting is, why say it if they've no games coming for the system?

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

New Super Mario Bros U and Nintendo Land.

I don't think any of those games shows the future of gaming...

And it seems to me like nobody supports them right now. Ubisoft was the last big publisher who tried to support them but apparently not anymore. Too bad but thats Nintendos own fault again.

It certainly isn't the future in terms of games developed by Codemasters and in the end that's the only thing that matters about this interview.

Codemasters: Believe in the future, we do not.
