It just looks like an ipad with analog sticks and buttons in my opinion. Nothing that amazes me.

You must not be a very creative person then because I can think of several inovative ways off the top of my head of how the pad can be used to improve game play. Inventory management it's self is worth it.

People are not going to pay $350 to play PS3 style games with more convienant "inventory management".
Wiimote was a earth shattering concept for 2006 that got people off the couch and opened up the experience to non-gamers. That's a revolution.
Wii U tablet has almost no sales catchet, this is not something that excites the consumer in this day and age. It's an oversized DS bottom half.

Nintendo themselves haven't done anything with it that benefits gameplay. ZombiU is the exception that proves the rule, as it was made by a third party.

They haven't done anything with it? The ability to transition from tv to pad is doing spmething with it. And we know there will be more. Man!! Some of you people remind me of all the fools saying that the wii mote wasn't good for FPS's using Red Steel as the example long after Corruption came out.

People will pay that much to play a Wii U style of game.
no...they want a super size DS be the center of the living room.
I think nintendo should have released the wii u in 2010 without the gamepad and instead waited on releasing the motion plus and sports resort for launch. They could have also marketed motion for casuals and pro controller for core giving people more options. Price could be $299 for 8gb w/motion plus and $399 for 32gb w/motion plus, sports reaort and pro controller

I think nintendo allways tries to make there consoles better. They think outside the box while everyone else takes the safe bet with graphics. I dont think they made the gamepad just because its all they could think of. I think its something they really believe in and it provides a different and fun way to play games.
Yes. And I'm sure Alexander Fleming made Penicillin because he couldn't think of a better idea to stop people from dying.
