I think Tablets were just a nice devices that people thought were cool, they will dissapear over time, Hybrid Laptops, Laptops and Pcs will still be the future, Post-Pc era my ass.

Thats my opinions, Tablets are simplified Pcs with not as much option, its a cool thing to have on Vacations but thats it.

what do you think ?
I take my 3G iPad 2 pretty much everywhere with me and use it as much as my desktop. My wife has an iPhone 4, which I could just use instead, but it's so much better to surf full sites instead of either stripped down mobile sites or with text so small you have to have a magnifying glass....
I find that the people who are most outspoken against tablets don't actually have them.  I myself can't imagine not having one anymore.

A tablet is one of those things a lot of people said "what's the point it's just a giant iPhone" ... but the truth is in day to day life around the house, when you actually get one you realize it's a really nice device to have.

It replaces books and makes things like having a small TV in the kitchen redundant.

It replaces the newspaper, really too. The first thing I do when I wake up is grab my iPad that's sitting on my night stand and check my email and favorite websites.

My God, people. Not everyone uses their ipad for facebook and internet. Every time I travel either by plane or by train I see several old people reading books on their kindle devices and younger people reading uni related articles and taking notes. It's actually very convenient. I don't own one, but if I had the money, I'd definitely buy a tablet. No smartphone is big enough to work as well as a tablet.

Tablet do a lot more than web surfing and watching videos.

Give it a few years and they will be the number 1 device to read magazine , comics( a lot of comics nerds swear by tablets, even the collectors, they buy the physical and read the digital so as not to damage their physical edition..) and books....

 

I spend an average of 3 hours/day on my kindle fire.........( I get the Wall Street Journal every day, Wired every month and I read a lot of comics and e-books with the occasional video in between)

 

 

PS : as for the earlier comments, not every tablet cost 600$...You can get a decent one for half that price..



PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

I find those tablets with smartphone OSes totally useless, I received one as a gift and barely used it, as I have my phone always with me to play the same games I played on the tablet and do some quick browsing, but anywhere, and when I need to do more serious work I take my Atom netbook. It can edit videos, images and create power point presentations, unlike a tablet.

Windows x86 tablets, however, are the real deal, as they can do serious work, play real games and also that smartphone crap(at least with Windows 8). I am probably getting an Acer W700 when I sell my netbook.

kindles at least make sense to me, they serve a function not done by another electronic or at least the price isn't so crazy. Ppl don't want to carry big books around for their entertainment, that device simply allows you to carry your entire collection without much of an issue, also helps with the not being able to see small print as you can adjust to preference. some Phones can do this also so maybe that is useless.

Tablets are going to last. They will soon be able to fully emulate standard laptops. Heck full windows 8 tablets already can. As soon as prices lower to that of a standard laptop, you will see tablets completely replace laptops in sales because with accessories you basically have a laptop, The only laptop market that still might be left is gaming laptops.

Windows 8 Pro Surface tablet.

It's a tablet that works like a laptop computer. You can use it for any PC programs, including games. How awesome is that?

It makes the iPad look like a joke! At least Android tablets are cheap enough to justify the lack of functionality.
