Forums - Gaming - Tablets - Why they wont last long.

I dont think Tablets will last much longer, its a cool thing but Smartphones are evolving too much and will kill the tablet market.

Android tablets sales and nothing compared to Phones sales, Windows Tablets the same and only Ipad is really selling but for how long ?

I think Tablets were just a nice devices that people thought were cool, they will dissapear over time, Hybrid Laptops, Laptops and Pcs will still be the future, Post-Pc era my ass.

Thats my opinions, Tablets are simplified Pcs with not as much option, its a cool thing to have on Vacations but thats it.

what do you think ?

You're probably right about hybrid laptops. Something that you can twist into a laptop or use as a straight tablet, could be capable of providing the more portable tablet experience or form into a mini workspace and give you the best of both worlds.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

120,000,000 iPads degree :P

No but I get what you mean. I do love my ipad but I could give it up in a second. I can't say the same for my phone or laptop.

I think tablets will continue to be popular until this November or so.

I was going to come in here just to blindly tell you to shut the fuck up, but I actually agree. Hybrid laptops will be the future, since they're just a more versatile product than tablets. I see more and more people docking their iPads to portable keyboards, so hybrid laptops is the next logical step.

With that said, Windows 8 isn't the dumb idea I expected it to be.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

It seems that Microsoft disagrees with you, if Windows 8 is anything to go by. Also, didn't the tablet market grow, like, %50 last year? If I'm not mistaken, tablets are expected to sell more than notebooks this year as well. I fully expect Tablet PCs, ultrabooks, and hybrids to continue eating away at traditional laptop sales for the foreseeable future.

When referring specifically to the oversized smartphone (minus phone function) that is most tablets, I think you could be right. I still think there's a market for both going forward, but the overall marketshare could shift more towards what you're talking about.

I agree.   Aside from gaming and movies and maybe some internet browsing tablets aren't very versatile.

I don't think they'll disappear completely but will like become the low-end as hybrid devices like this

ASUS dual screen laptop/tablet become the norm.

Windows 8 isn't a bad idea but it's still flawed.  I'm waiting to see if Apple/Android does it better.

I find Tablet success to be a tad sickening. Through skillful marketing the masses have been dooped into buying into a fundamentally useless product. Anything tablets do, phones do them just as well if not better. They are glorified internet/app machines that are inferior to the avg smartphone. They are suppose to be replacing the PC/Laptop market yet has anyone ever attempted using a program such as ones for typing, or things like 3DS Max? impossible and down right unwieldly. And they cost MORE too than laptops.

One of my friends was just telling me he got one (when he has a laptop and desktop) and I could not help but feel like im surrounded by lemmings.

$600 for a facebook updating device. At least the Surface RT comes with Office preinstalled. My wife has a Kindle Fire HD (only $199), but she reads a lot, so it's actually useful for her. iPads? I just never got it, too expensive for an oversized smartphone/ipod in my opinion.
