Just a couple of weeks ago this guy made an article about the Wii U making a comeback...and now that the system lost one exclusive (not even a game they just lost exclusivity) then now it struggles to stay relevant...

Because they put up an article stating the obvious? That the Wii U's outlook for the next few months looks bleak, but has plenty of options to bring it back over time? |
No, this article has nothing to do with it.
THIS

is the reason IGN died for me today...this guy is just a complete douche.

Yup. Biggest troll in video game journalism I've seen in a long time.

No. I think he means because Richard George (who I assume is RichIGN) teased "interesting news for Wii U" yesterday and it seems like this is it. Then he posts this article... which is kind of a dick move really.
EDIT: Beaten by a mile.
Well, maybe Nintendo was just wrong and people simply do not expect a home console to have assymetric gameplay, a social network or the ability of a controller to be used as a handheld?
There is no certainty that "innovative controller" can draw in new customers. But making a new controller the standard controller can also alienate your existing userbase. The Wiimote was the one thing that I couldn't stand about the Wii. The classic controller was fine, VC was brilliant, HD Graphics wasn't that important... but the forced on motion control was horrible for me... And that tablet controller is also a reason why I am not really excited about the Wii U. I do not think that the controller will work with most genres... just as the motion controls simply do not work with most genres if they have a certain depth.
The Vita had the same problem. I bougth it for AC3 Liberation... and the touch screen on the back ruined some game mechanics. Everyone who played that game will certainly know what I mean. And don't forget that damn multiplayer.... That was only there because people think there has to be an online mode nowadays.
I really hope that the next Playstation will have its focus on pure gaming, not on any gimmicky innovations. They will not work with most genres anyway. Look at the Wii... It might have been a success hardwarewise... but that install base didn't help most established genres. The Wii sold Party Games, Fitness games and Dancing games, but not Action-Adventures or RPGs, etc.
IGN two weeks ago: "Wii U's future looks bright. Nintendo Direct was AWESOME. Look out for Nintendo!"
IGN Today: "Wii U lost Rayman. It is doomed. Oh god."

My prediction threads:
Wii U will sell under 40m units (made on 14th September 2012)
PS Vita will sell under 20m units (made on 30th September 2012)
Wii U will sell under 7m in 2013 - I was right
