Not if the belief itself is to have faith. If this were a scientific or social matter I would understand that position. But it is a spiritual matter, and the only evidence you can gather on that are from your own personal experience.
That theory in no way suggests how the universe and all the matter came to be. Quantum mechanics are the result or cause of ''something''. Nothing by definition cant do ''nothing''. There isnt anything there to do anything. While it is true that from what we have seen so far matter and antimatter are created in self-cancelling amounts under fluctuation conditions, one must bear in mind that so far our observation of creating both is laughably small.
EDIT: This universe and rationality stuff is going off topic, so I'd be thankful if we would return to the original topic

Well, if you are only considering God spiritually (mind and not tangible) then there isn't anything to discuss as reality itself is subjective and each person's experience is unique in that regard.
We have discovered the higgs boson at this point, so stating that matter and anti-matter are created in self-cancelling amounts is not accurate at all. They simply are not created in self-cancelling amounts, matter wins out which is why we exist at all.
Your concept that nothing can't do anything is quite unfounded. We have no real world examples of true nothingness, and I would conclude it is the exact opposite - it is boundless freedom, limitless, unheeded by laws, rules, space, restrictions.
I don't know what the original topic is anymore, but if it's gay marriage and religion does it really need to be discussed? Surely no religious person can come in here and rationally argue against gay marriage.

Well, duh, exactly. I think God and/or religion only work on spiritual and personal level. Thats kinda the whole point of religion (at least Christian one). Thats why I never understood going to church because ''its propper''. Everyone should have his/her own connection and relationship and with God, not something that a priest or even Pope says. Thats why i dont favour organized religios leaders much.
There is a credible current theory that the missing antimatter component of the known universe may be explained by positing that there was a tiny favouring of the creation of matter at the moment of the Big Bang (favouring particles over antiparticles at the rate of perhaps a billion and one to a billion). Matter and antimatter would then negate on contact, leaving a trivial overspill of matter (the known universe).
There are problems with the math of this theory, but it mops up the massive excess of meaningless photons in the observed universe like a charm.
I believe nothingness is exactly what was before Big Bang (God doesnt count): no matter, no time, no laws. But its really pointless to speculate on the stuff like this, beause our knowledge is extremly limited on this topic, so everything we say is mostly speculation.
I can rationally argue against gay marrige, but not because im religious or would I be using any religious arguments. My stance on gay marrige has nothing to do with my religion
