Nope, I don't think 360 will ever outsell the PS3 outside a couple weeks in the holidays.

I leave my house and talk to people though, and on Monday pretty much everyone was talking about the PS4

ps3 is doing terrible recently in america, why is that? I actually though it would come this year a bit closer to the 360 than previous years due to more major exclusiv software releases in 2013?
Why would it be stupid to buy a ps3?
It's almost inevitable that the PS4 won't have backwards compatibility, so all those exclusives will only be available on that console always, plus it will take time for the PS4 to build up a nice enough library to make it worth the purchase.

How is PS4 a worse case scenario? Are you, the consumer, disappointed when a new product releases?

Why would the PS4 reveal be a worse case scenario?
Infact you should see it as an exciting glimpse of next gen and the announcement of a product you may want to buy in the future, even though you likely pledge allegiance to microsoft now; anything can happen during the transition to next gen systems.
Like how many PS2 owners got a 360, even though I currently like the PS3 the 720 could end up being the system I pick up, although it's not likely it's always a chance. You are a consumer and you should be looking for what the best product is for your money regardless of the brand name attatched to it.

He's a hardcore Microsoft fan, so he doesn't want the PS4 to have a sales headstart on the nextbox next gen

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Pezus, I know this may be shocking to you, but some people don't spend all their waking hours on vgchartz like you do. The public know the PS4 is coming. There were shitloads of statuses about it on facebook too
