Forums - Gaming - Are you a Bayonetta fan, and will you be buying WiiU to play the sequel?

Very few games are system sellers. Most people don't buy a system for 1 particular game. Each game they want makes them a bit more likely to buy the system. People can't seem to grasp this concept.

I'm a Bayonetta fan and a Nintendo fan, so this works out great for me. Conversely, if Bayonetta was on the 720 or PS4, I'd be more likely to buy that system.

Damn right I did! Bayonetta was surprisingly one of the best action games this generation. I'm also considering The Wonderful 101, which reminds me of Veautiful Joe also made by Platinum Games. It does suck that I had to buy a Wii U early on but I'm sure that it will have some great games as it matures. I understand peoples frustration; at the same time, the game wouldn't even be coming out if it wasn't for Nintendo's vigilant efforts in publishing Bayonetta 2! We should be thankful that Nintendo is trying to appeal to the hardcore by attaining games like Bayonetta and pissed off that Sega chose to publish crappy games over something special like Bayonetta 2...

Loved Bayonetta 1. I understand why Platinum went with Nintendo for Bayonetta 2; but its something I hope would be a timed exclusive.

Its because the PS3 and 360 consumers made that game successful enough to warrant a sequel. If your not releasing the sequel for that market I think it will negatively affect the sales and the consumer response.

However I think Nintendo did a great thing, coming in and publishing the game. If any game deserved saving it was Bayonetta 2, the original was amazing.

I think Platinum made a mistake accepting Nintendo's offer, they could've gone and found another publisher who would have released the game multiplatform; I'm not sure what the sales will be; but looking at something like Mass Effect. Microsoft seemed to have exclusive rights over Mass Effect 1, and somehow its on the PS3. If the game dosen't come to PS4/720, its of detriment to Platinum Games. That is the market for Bayonetta.

dood, the sequel was canceled until Nintendo stepped in and funded it, if it was successful, it'd be multi platform to start with. ^^; Also remember that Japan is starting to do the cross over thing more and more whereas western publishers are all trying to middle finger each other, I think we'll start to see really really good JP games again in the 8th gen where the good devs from the old days will come out with awesome stuff on all platforms, I'm hoping anyways.

That's the thing though, PS360 consumers didn't make it successful enough to warrant a sequel; SEGA declined to publish the sequel. Bayo 1 failed to crack 2 million across both PS3 and 360. It wasn't exactly a catastophic flop, but for an AAA production with stellar reviews it wasn't a hit either.

Nintendo didn't bag Bayonetta because the franchise is a goldmine; it isn't. They bagged it to make their image more "hardcore."

I love Bayonetta, but I won't play the second one. My next-gen console will probably be the ps4, and I will not buy a $300 console just to play Bayonetta 2.

Not at all and never. If anything worth playing ever releases on the Wii U I'll just steal a friends/relatives console for a few days to play it.

I like Bayonetta, not sure if that makes me a fan, but no I won't be buying a Wii U for that game. It has to be pretty special for one game to get me to purchase a console.

this...

i love my wii u and i will buy bayonetta 2, but its hard to find a die hard bayonetta fan raised by only 1 game in the franchise.

bayonetta is no zelda, uncharted or mario.

Bayonetta is not a system seller and theres nothing praises on the a forum is going to do to change that. Nintendo just did it to ward off their family/kiddy image.

Who said anything about it being a system seller??.

The OP was asking Bayonetta fans would they buy a WiiU for the sequal not if its a system seller.

So why the need to come in here and say such stuff??

Thats the same thing as asking whether you think its a system seller. I doubt Nintendo will split the PS360 crowd over Bayonetta.

No it isnt the same thing. If you love a game in a series the is a very good chance you will buy a system for it. Bayonetta was never a big seller but thats not the point. The OP was asking if any Bayonetta fans not Console fans would buy a WiiU for Bayonetta 2, he wasnt asking would the game be a system seller so i still dont see the point of your post..

You're being defensive, but that doesn't help the fact that the chances are high that if new consoles come this year Bayonetta is small potatoes in the short term for people who enjoyed the first Bayonetta on the PS3 and 360. A lot of people liked Bayonetta, but it doesn't mean they'll buy a console for it. Thats like asking if someone will buy a console for Ninja Gaiden just because they wanted it. Now I am not saying no one will because some might, but realistically speaking, most wont. There will have to be more than that to get people to jump to the Wii U if they have their money saved for other titles. Again, this year is stacked and it might get even more expensive for many people. I liked Bayonetta for its crazy DMC on crack-like gameplay but I find no reason for fanfare as it is an empty franchise outside gameplay stemming from of a oversexed female character with a pointless storyline. Now and I will buy a Wii U eventually and buy this...but its not worth it just for that one game. When Zelda comes out, now we're talking.
