I like gamestop for the most part but try to avoid them. I usually price my used games at gamestop and try to sell it to my friends for like a dollar more. if no one wants it then i pass it to gamestop. The way i see it is cuttng out gamestop gives me a little more money and saves them a little money. Also, I try to buy all my games new to support the developers. I was looking for GoW origins and since GoW saga replaced it i couldn't find it new. Since i already played Gow1/2/3 I just wanted origins. So i turned to gamestop.

This article seems to be doing the round on reddit at the moment (despite it being nearly a week old).

It at least clarifies one of my questions which was "How many stores does Gamestop have?" 4,400 apparently, so closing 400-600 of them - while big in normal terms - at least doesn't seem particularly fatal.

From the reddit comments, seems to be the same problem GAME suffered from in this country - far too many stores and too many cases of multiple stores within walking distance of each other. I know that in my (miniscule) home town there was a GAME & Gamestation within 2 minutes of each other, and in Manchester there were 3 stores in the Arndale in the GAME brand (they opened a 4th one just outside for a while too, which seemed absurd).

So trimming the un-necessary fat doesn't seem too bad.

I personally love GameStop. I pre-order everything there and pick them on release day without any type problems.
