There is 0% chance PS2 matched last year numbers, otherwise Sony wouldnt have descontinued. So PS3 shipped around 6.2-6.4 million, so gap is around 600k-800k between 360 and PS3. So one more quarter and PS3 will be on top.

I think the next quarter sales will be...

360: 1.1m
PS3: 1.6m

Close but not enough to put PS3 on top but it will happen for sure in Apr-Jun quarter.

Thats assuming MS is doing absolutely nothing to 360s price.

No price cut for both before E3... so after that a price cut for both for the PS4/Nextbox launch.

Apr-Jun quarter PS3 will outsell the 360 with a good margin (1m or more).

Assuming PS3 is around 75m through the end of 2012, Sony shipped about 13m PS3s during 2012 (62m was for the end of 2011)

Strictly speaking it's the second year of decline for PS3 (by calendar years for shipments), and we can now see (if it is at 75m) that the drop off is starting to accelerate downward:

2010 - 14.4m

2011 - 14.1m

2012 - 13.0m

This year will probably be more like 8-9m shipped globally. Then we'll see rapid declines in 2014 (5m?), 2015 (2m) and so on. I'm thinking PS3 is discontinued somewhere in the 90-95m range. PS4 / X720 will reduce demand for PS3 / X360 fairly quickly beyond the normal disinterest already setting in.

87m shipped or sold? i have 85m sold end of 2013

Shipped... so we have close predictions .

lol ok sounds good. so by 2015 105-120m sold which high end is a bit of a stretch but PS3 should have long legs at the right price.

and 95m maybe by yr. end 2014.

You believe in a 40% drop yoy for PS3 this year? From 13 million to 8-9 million? That's huge... I'm more inline with 11 million for this year.

Well since your predictions tend to be off....id say april-june will have a 360 price cut.

I mean logically you gotta cut the price to make way for the next gen. And you dont want to do it after that quarter as it will be too close to the November launch to really entice buyers.

PS4 is rumored to launch only in Japan in 2013, so they will more likely wait til after E3

This means that the difference in sold units between the PS3 and 360 is now down to almost a million. 360 possibly undertracked by 600 thousand and PS3 by 1 million.

Ouch, when you make a loss during the holiday season you know something most be wrong...

-5% SNE. Expect more declines from SNE stock. The only positives in this report is the Pictures, Music, and Financial business.

There are something wrong but that's before 2012... to put in perspective Sony goes from 2 billion loss Q3 last year to 120 million loss Q3 this year.

At least they are trying to fix the things.
