| TheSource said: Assuming PS3 is around 75m through the end of 2012, Sony shipped about 13m PS3s during 2012 (62m was for the end of 2011) Strictly speaking it's the second year of decline for PS3 (by calendar years for shipments), and we can now see (if it is at 75m) that the drop off is starting to accelerate downward: 2010 - 14.4m 2011 - 14.1m 2012 - 13.0m This year will probably be more like 8-9m shipped globally. Then we'll see rapid declines in 2014 (5m?), 2015 (2m) and so on. I'm thinking PS3 is discontinued somewhere in the 90-95m range. PS4 / X720 will reduce demand for PS3 / X360 fairly quickly beyond the normal disinterest already setting in. |
You believe in a 40% drop yoy for PS3 this year? From 13 million to 8-9 million? That's huge... I'm more inline with 11 million for this year.
