Forums - Sony - Sony Q3 FY2012 - $124m loss, PS3+PS2 6.8m, PSV+PSP 2.7m

Also, PS3 likely outshipped 360 in Q3. This means 360 dropped by 2.1m YOY and PS3 ~500k. I think it's pretty clear that sales didn't drop that much for 360, so we can deduce that they clearly did overship back then.

How big will the difference be between PS3 and 360 this fiscal year in shipments? 4m? Haven't added everything up, but that sounds good.

in the first 3 quarters of last year 360 shipped around 7 million, this year 4 million in the first 3 quarters. the clearly overshipped in Q4 last year.

im second place, and you?

premature speculation.

Dont worry, It gets better with age.

Hahaha, oh you

@kowen

The issue in Game division is the portable hardware sales... if Vita have sold 3-4 million more units I'm sure the game division was be up yoy.

So did they earn money or did they lost it :p

Hmm so like Nikon, sony did not get any benefit from the weak yen this quarter (still have it at 81/USD and low 100/EUR)

The Income before and after taxes is starling, like a negative print of half of a billion dollars.

So all in all a so-so quarter, did not leverage any of the yen's weakness, was able to get the losses in the TV business WAY down, growth in half its business and no growth in the other half, their mobile phone segement looks like it will pass it tv segment as the companies largest portion, still maintain overall profit targets

Indeed. Do you know how they stand from April to Dec? 5.9 in "Q3" and how much in Q1 and Q2? Sony expect around 13m for PS3, so does 9m for 360 sound reasonable? That means 5.9m in one quarter and 3.1m in the 3 other quarters...talk about being holiday centric.

honestly no, kowen has that thread of quarterly shipments though. last year Q4 they shipped 8 million and ended the year with 15 million. that means over 50% of the 360's sold is in their last quarter. and about 60% of the 360% sales this year were in Q4, holiday centric indeed, and that will come back to bite 360 in the ass this year with next gen consoles releasing and hype for current gen decrease dramtically in the holidays. mark my work, ps3 will pass 360 this year then it will fly far away from it, once its all said and done it will end no less than 7 million units more sold then 360.  and sony expects 13M in 2013? or you mean their earlier preictions of 13 million fisical year 2012?

where did I say it wasnt?

and lol at the bolded.... they didnt though did they.

you have some very strange ways at looking at business.

This just proves that Playstation mobile gaming is now a failure from a business perspective.  PS4 is in a very imprtant postion now.  It simply HAS to be succesful from the start otherwise Playstation as a business is in doubt.

No questions about PS mobile being a failure.  Anyone who denies it, is blind.

PS4 has to at least mantain the same marketshare PS3 has now on next gen.

13 million in FY2012 (end in March 2013)... they are on track to that the forecast is the same 16 million (13m PS3 and 3m PS2).

I expect 11 million PS3 for the next FY even with PS4 launch in Q3.

Anyway do you expect the 360 to end with 105 million sales lifetime?
