Forums - Sony - Sony Santa Monica does it again with God of War Ascension! (30 minute gameplay video from IGN)

I've never really liked the GoW series (Both of them)
But those graphics do look fantastic.

Pfft this is just more of the same.... Luckily, I loved GOW3 so no complains here. Gonna play with a big grin on my face.

Since when did you play a GOW game where you were surviving while going up a giants body who is bigger than a titan (He has a hundred arms....literally)? This game looks like GOS (going back to being a spartan fighter)with GO2 elements (level design) and current gen graphics but ten times crazier. I am playing this game on hard and unlocking the harder difficulties when I see the special outfits and perks like GOW3.  Cannot wait. No gamer should every play these types of games on normal or the game wont challenge them to learn the system, parries or anything. The director of Sony Santa Monica said to Geoff Keighley from Gametrailers that the demo is half of the first level of the game, in comparison to the last game in makinng your way your way battle with poseidon. GOW3 was a visual success but even they know from a GOW perspective the games generally last eleven to twelve hours (normal difficulty) not eight hours. The multiplayer is definitely a treat at well and it took me by surprise. I was anticipating this game but it has definitely taken me by surprise even more so now. Can't wait to customize my warrior can capture some flags! But seriously though, I believe they took to heart the acclaim GOS got on the PSP and used it to make this a meatier game.

Where is ths all coming from? damn dude.

I only watched like 3 minutes of it, i had shit to do and a 30 minute gameplay video is a commitment now a days. this is probably gonna be equivilant to Uncharted 3. Amazing and on a much bigger scale, however it won't be as ground breaking as their previous titles were, besides graphics. Nothing wrong with that, but I'm just being realistic here.

NO YOUR OPINION IS WRONG AND MINE IS RIGHT

Dude, you don't even know, you don't even KNOW!!

I saw this earlier. I might have to pick this up too. Man, with PS4 looking to come out soon I don't know how I'm going to afford all these PS3 and Vita games coming out this year let alone play them.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I wasn't attacking you dude, it's called reassuring you while still adding to the post. Saying you're being realistic is a stunning term for someone who has watched three minutes of a video and judges it off of that. After seeing the E3 demo and the thirty minute video I can assure you that GOW's level of gameplay is still intact and will only get harder based on the difficulties you choose. The game just increased the scale by including the maps on the famous body of the Hecatonchires (which is rather crazy for a developer to do).  Saying the game is more of the same and then stating its turning into Uncharted three is a contradiction to your first post.God of War is ALWAYS pushing scale, so you can always expect something new especially when its on powerful hardware. It still shows progression, but anyhow, God of War's gameplay seems to be intact, despite the fact that the devs have switched up the gameplay for core mechanics (based around the GOW/GOS time period). It's focused more on core mechanics now than its ever been if you've paid attention to all of the videos released (which were two for single player). It seems in this game Kratos will be able to stop time and manipulate levels like a puzzle in certain parts as well. The Javelins will be in the game as well. As I said before, Geoff Keighley spoke to the developer and it's looking like this game will be longer than part three and step up the gameplay in the process.

Again...I wasn't attacking you, but rather giving my opinion on your post. This is a forum and not everyone will agree. You can believe it has done more of the same or is pushing cinematics more than anything.
