Nintendo DS, and looking at 3DS vs Vita levels... almost the same again but this time around you have to factor in the mobile market. 3DS isn't dominating everything when you factor in mobile games.

 

Though honestly I don't see any company pulling off what the PS2 or DS did. Theres just more competition and not a single game company since then has proven their experience was unique enough. Even with the Wii Motion controls came the Kinect which sold damn well, and Sony had the PSMove which was damn good. Wii still has a solid lead but when the PS3/360 continue to sell more units the gap is getting quite smaller. 40% market share (and growing smaller) is hardly dominating. 

more shocking things have happened, but i'm inclined to agree.

It's far too early to say who will win, we only have the Wii U and some of it's games, while we know nothing at all about the next Playstation or Xbox. I want at least see the games and hardware before saying who will "win"

funny thing is they are claiming dead on arrival which not even 3 months with 3mil units sold, but a HANDHELD thats been out overa year with tons of software got 4.2mil and dont say anything? Whats vita if wii u is dead on arrival?

They have no other excuse but to use the Vita as a scapegoat. "Hey Wii U is failing but look at the Vita!!"
