Forums - Sales - What WiiU Needs

They need a $269.99 Nintendo Land or NSMBU bundle. This year. If they wanted to charge $300+ they needed to bring something that destroyed the PS3/360 hardware wise no question, they didn't, you can't have it both ways Nintendo, consumers will call BS.

And they need Mario Kart U this Christmas.

And they need to get off their ass and understand they themselves need to make a hardcore IP internally that can be a flagship/beacon to other developers to break the stigma that Nintendo consoles are for kids and/or soccer moms.

They need to refocus their marketing and market the hell out of The Wonderful 101.

If you're going to do these third party collaborations, then stop dicking around with niche franchises and come up with something that will actually sell systems. Final Fantasy x Zelda or Super Mario x Dragon Quest will, Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei while kinda neat, probably won't. Do you want to sell hardware or not?

Hire an attractive, young female spokesperson as your new marketing campaign outreach. Megan Fox, Kate Upton, someone like that. That will instantly "un-dorkify" your crappy marketing and make your products seem cool and get attention from the mainstream media (ie: Entertainment Weekly, Access Hollywood, etc.).

Find 10 promising Western indie studios/garage developers. Give them some money to make something for the eShop, try and find the next hot developer.

They should approach Zelda Williams, and suggest expanding from just advertising a Zelda title to advertising Nintendo products in general.

                                                                                                                                        Above & Beyond

the console is supposed to bring on the core crowd, it doesnt need mario kart, smash bros as its going to get them anyway.

it needs exclusive 3rd party games and brand new nintendo exclusives, like an exclusive shooter, action adventure, rpg's etc lots of core games

but a big worry is playing these type of games with this huge controller its uncomfortable imo they need to start bundling a cheap pro controller

expand miiverse as its the best online service ive ever played on its brilliant

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Screw the core/hardcore crowd (I fucking hate using these terms). Nintendo just needs to time their releases better. If 3rd parties want to be a little bitches and not support Nintendo's home console then so be it. Nintendo doesn't need third party companies like Microsoft and Sony do. Stop trying to go the GC route because that will only reduce your sales. They just need to produce quality games with less voids in release dates and people will buy their system.

I agree with most of your points. And number 5 could be G&W or WPU.

3. Apps. Wii U is brilliantly equiped to offer i-thing like gaming. $5-$20 apps must be available on e-shop. Quick, pick-up-and-play games and apps. Maybe some that are free or $1-$2 as well. The viewer and Google street view are a good start. They need Angry Birds type games. Nintendo should have split up NintendoLand into 12 downloadable apps. Could have made a mint. With the touchpad they could do all kinds of innovative things, the kind of things that Nintendo's great software makers would make if they were making games for i-pads. The e-shop should be full of stuff. New themes or quick plays of classic titles. "New" Kid Icarus for example. "New" Ice Climbers. They could slap them together in a week or two and sell them for 5 bones. Perhaps offer a PS+ like subscription to get them all.

WiiU needs apps. Not games, but apps. They don't really need to follow the $1 downloadable games (they already have the 3DS eShop for that). The WiiU eShop should offer instead some premium downloadable or interesting indie games.

If they want to make it an "i-thing", they need to make it much more productive. I have family members that where turned off when they found that that the video conf. app wasn't Skype but their own proprietary one. These "useful" apps, like the Google Street, are easily implemented thanks to html5 coding they've been using. Where are the News and Weather apps? Obviously you could use the browser, but when implemented directly as web-apps they are only a click away.

A plus in making the Gamepad more productive, the device gets used more often and not only for gaming. Which means in more exposure to the WaraWara plaza - which is really Nintendo's ad space.

They had a News and Weather Channel on the Wii.  Not sure why it there aren't any on the Wii U.  Perhaps in future they will release one.  However, then you might have the same people bitching that it is a Nintendo channel and not Google Currents, Pulse News, etc..

I agree that some Kate Upton would be very welcome on WiiU. I want an UptonApp. Use the touchscreen to make her jiggle. Mmmmm.... jiggle..

How about a new name?
