Forums - Nintendo - Wii U surprises and disappointments

I'm surprised by how much I like Miiverse...
And by how well the browser works...
I also like how much quieter the Wii U is than the Wii...
My Wii was only slightly quieter than a jet engine...
The biggest surprise has been Nintendo Land...
I didn't think I would like it all that much...
The biggest disappointment has been long load times...

Have a nice day...

Sorry if off-topic, but my disappointment with Wii U is a lack of account system. I'm really worried about how the transfer works so maybe someone can clarify me some things:

1. If I have all my Wii VC games on an SD card and I get an empty SD card and do the transfer thing... it will copy just the Wii Shop info, save files and other stuff, but not the games right? So I'll be able to download all my Wii VC games in the Wii U, and still play the Wii VC games installed on the first SD card?

2. Are the save files also erased when I do the transfer? Or is it possible to have save files on both systems?

3. Is it possible to do the transfer multiple times? For example today I just move a game, tomorrow another game, etc?

Isn't it great that they're working on that?  Of course, it would be equally sucky if they decided to do nothing.

It's very great...

I like that they aren't pretending the console is flawless...

I can't say that I'm disappointed by the lack of games available right now only because I expected this to happen...

It seems pretty typical of a console launch...

It's so quiet! I expected it to be about as noisy as the Wii (which was actually pretty quiet, really), but it's actually much less noisy! It hardly makes a sound! Seriously, my Wii sounds like it's about to lift off and fly away when it loads or reads discs sometimes, on WiiU, you hardly notice it.

I have to say that the internet browser on WiiU is top notch, better and faster than my laptop and PS3. In fact 90% of my browsing is now via WiiU. I havent got too many issues i think its great, i know the load times can be a bit slow, but i figured that sometime an update would fix that, and hey presto its happening. Ive noticed a lot of the software is getting updates as well, i had one for Tekken and it sped up the load times so they are bareley noticable.
One thing to point out, is that both PS3 and 360 were a shadow of what they are today, They have had lots of features and improvements over the years with updates and patches, I see the same with WiiU..its a work in progress.

I'm kind of surprised to see people (not just yourself) comparing Wii U's browser favorably to a computer.  I agree that it's awesome for a console browser — full fledged WebKit engine, dual screen YouTube — but I can't imagine it ever being my first choice.  I'm not surprised it runs circles around PS3's POS browser, but I'm really curious what kind of laptop you are using that's slower than the Wii U browser?  An iPad, even an old one with a much slower processor, feels more fluid and is far, far better for typing.

My Wii U seems fairly noisy when reading discs, but I am sitting closer to it than I used to with the Wii, so it's hard to say for sure.  Miiverse is great, can't wait to access it from more places.  And the people doing 1:1 pixel art on it are just amazing (sadly, this will become a lot more ordinary once web browsers can post to Miiverse).

I was planning on waiting until E3 anyway to decide on if I want Wii U, Orbis, or Durango but honestly even if I was already sold on Wii U, I wouldn't buy one yet.

Wii U seems to have many issues. They are all fixable but as of now, Wii U is kind of like a broken system. I think this is another reason why Wii U sales are so low. Even if people like the current games released, they are still hesitant to buy one because of all the problems.

Wii U officially launches Holiday 2013! The people who bought it already are just the test rats...

lmfao..?  you've just admitted that you don't even own the system and your saying it has issues. I haven't encountered ANY issues at all with my Wii U as long as many other people I know online and in real life. No bricking, no freezing for me. The only real thing is loading times and even that I dont mind, but a lot of people are complaining. Wii U is far from broken, just needs some new software improvements for loading times and the addition of cross game chat. Plus, waiting for the software to be released, which as we found out last week is being worked on.

I'm not denying there are problems with the Wii U, but calling it a broken system is a bit ridiculous.

people is just silly about the touchscreen, it is really responsive, almost like a capacitive one. Very similar to the iPod Touch i have. I think people is expecting the device to response just by looking at it.

Surprises
-Gamepad is actually useful
-Miiverse is the best online community ever. No trolls.

Disappointments
-Day 1 update
-Loading times
-LACK OF GAMESSSSSSS (Though I only bought Nintyland for now lol, saving up)

You can transfer everything from your Wii, including the Wii games you downloaded from the Wii Shop. Saved files will also be transfered. This is a one time transfer and it will be erased completly from your Wii. One time and no more, everything will be transfer. You cannot choose what files to transfer. Once they are on the Wii mode of the Wii U, you can download them to be played on Wii U mode if you pay $1.00 and $1.50 (for NES and SNES titles, respectively) on the Wii U eshop when they become available. Price will be displayed automatically only if you have them on the Wii mode of the Wii U.

I am guessing that you don't have the system, why are you asking? see people don't know what is the problem they have because they don't like to read the manual instructions. everything I am telling you is in the instructions except the virtual console thing when they become available on the Wii U eshop.
