They were several JRPG's from last gen that were better than FFXIII, none of them sold as well.

That's what some of you people still fail to realise:

There may or may not have been better rpgs than XIII and I may even agree but that is subjective and not the point.

The point is that there were barely any jrpgs that were more relevant than FF XIII at that particular point in time.

I was just going by the look of the game. The vast open world and the giant beast battles.

You were pretty much right actually.

The comparison between Final Fantasy in general and Monolith's X or XC is pointless and just another excuse to talk about the "fall" of FF, ignoring facts like how console/j rpgs peeked and died years ago.

Not the most ridiculous comparison though, that was FF XIII and Resonance of Fate,  just plain ignorant.

FF X-2 was 2 steps down from previous FF's and don't make me talk about XIII and XIII-2, the problem is not if they sell or not the problem is that they are damaging the most important console RPG brand in the world, Toriyama thinks XIII-2 didn't sell...

FF X-2 and FF XIII-2 were both very successful considering they are far smaller productions than X and XIII respectively and that they are not numbered entries. And with all due respect you pulled that stuff about Toriyama out of your behind.

Final Fantasy will be fine.......................on iOS.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Have you SEEN All the Bravest? lol

It's pretty bad. Squeenix needs to stop with the mobile apps.

Seriously when was the last time we gamers got a "wow" or "Amazing" feeling about FF?

I've not felt it for over 12 years

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

It's easy to use but is outclassed by every single other weapon. Good beginner weapon but you need to move on afterwards.

I don't care about the performance, I play Monster Hunter for fun. And SnS was good enough to take me all the way through Tri...

MH3G was an improvement and addition on MH3 (Tri) from Wii, which also did fairly poorly in Japan. It added new enemies and zones, and re-added the weapons that were removed and some people were very angry about (gunlance, dual sword, bow).

I'm not screaming imminent doom for the Monster Hunter series, but the reaction to MH4 info in Japan has been fairly mediocre, with criticism for downgrading graphics from the PSP games, a strange focus on customizing otomo, and addition of new "shonen manga" weapons (bug staff and transforming "chargeaxe"-shield-sword-hammer thing). The chargeaxe in particular is looking to make several weapon types obsolete as an all-in-one.

Uh...what? This post makes no sense.

MH3G was successful for Capcom and is still selling (expected: 1.2 mil, sales: 1.5 mil+). How much did you expect it to sell? On par with MHP3 or something? And people are angry at weapons being added? lol WTF is this. And special weapons from shonen manga are somehow a negative? Again, WTF is this?

What reaction to MH4 are you talking about? The game is #1 on Famitsu Most Wanted list. Some mediocre reaction that is. The graphics are a bit disappointing but you have to be blind to think it's a downgrade from the PSP versions. And the gunlance doesn't make the lance obsolete so why would the Chargeaxe do anything different? The only real obsolete weapon is the SnS.

You seem to have misunderstood, people were angry that it was removed from MH3. So Capcom added it back in for MH3G. And yes, selling over a million is a success, but not the resounding success of its over 4 million sales predecessors. When a game loses 2/3 of its audience that's a big deal. The thing about MHP2G and MHP3 was that it was so popular among virtually every group: middle/high schoolers, college students, and even salarymen. A friend even had a monster hunter "club" at his workplace (Japanese company employees socialize together a lot) where they would play on breaks or even off days. That club is on hiatus since nobody wants to play MH3G.

The changes that Capcom seems to be making to MH indicate more of an attempt to refocus its efforts towards a much younger audience. Capcom probably recognizes that the big monster hunter boom is over. Adding shonen manga-esque weapons is not necessarily a bad thing, but its definitely another move away from what the game used to be, and its making the veteran players move on, while failing to bring in a large wave of new players.

Oh and Famitsu's interest list is not a very good indicator. The website community has 121 users registered with interest.

I don't know about the sales. All I know is that to me this game looks a lot better already than any recent FF game.

Yep, every weapon is usable, it just takes varying levels of skill, strategy, and patience to be successful with each.

In quality ? yes it's almost guaranteed that X will be superior compared to recent FF games.

In sales ? No. Forget about it.

Personally the Persona series have long stolen FF crown as king of JRPGs.
