Now seriously guys, Vita and WiiU are struggling, 3DS is doing good. But the rest, who the hell needs consoles that are 7-8 years old? People see that there's already new hardware or it's coming soon. Even if the PS4/xbox haven't been officially announced yet, everybody is talking about them, even non-gaming media (at least here in Switzerland)

Honestly, will be more interesting next week to see the numbers after the announcements.

Yep. Everyone who saw this as an obviously bad choice, have been proven right.

The Wii U is now in a 3DS situation.  It must climb out of a deep hole.  

Price-cuts are coming quickly.  Nintendo will now post 2 Annual losses in a row - that's an unprecedented blow to Nintendo.  Before 2011 they had NEVER, not once lost money annually.  Now they're going to do it twice in a row.  Really sad.

And no - I am NOT saying Nintendo is Doomed.  Long-term, they'll be fine, only because of the Billions in cash they have in the bank.  And, it's not game over for Wii U.  Nintendo will just continue to lose money, until they prove the Wii U's comeback, or open up other revenue streams.

And I have to admit I was wrong about Wii U and Nintendo.  I defended it quite a lot.  But - I would be an insane person to ignore the facts of the sales numbers, and the overall situation, and to not admit the reality.  But I am not an insane person, and yes - Nintendo is defeated this round, yet again.

I just can't imagine Satoru Iwata staying on as President for much longer.  Nintendo Direct's and announcements are nothing.  Talk is cheap.  Nintendo has already failed to come through on many a previous announcement...their words mean nothing.

No, seriously, those Wii U numbers are horrendous. Nintendo really needs to get some games out there.
And those PSVita numbers... kind of expected.

The simple announcement won't do the job unfortunately.

I agree that Wii U is in bad shape, but what I was saying is that Wii U sells bad, but everybody knows why - there are almost no games, the only really big one being a Mario, but we've been given so many Marios recently, that even his magic is starting to faint. Are there any big games announced for Q1-2 apart from Pikmin? Cause if not, then Nintendo has no choice but to wait for games in Q3-4. Nobody is in a possition to sell bad for half a year, but they may have no choice. Now the question is, do they follow the 3DS or Vita pricing model? Can you imagine what a price-cut in Q2 would do to the console? Especially if the sales don't improve anyway due to the lack of games. The press would destroy it and it would be in a worse spot than Vita.

The problems with Vita is that there are great games available and the console still isn't selling. There is no easy cure here, unlike with the Wii U, though a price-cut is the obvious next step now. I have a feeling that Soul Sacrifice (released in March I believe) will be the last game sold with Vita at the current price. Sony will want to sell as many $250 consoles in Japan as possible with the first hot Japanese title and cut the price after that to allow the next big release - Killzone to sell big. They should cut the price before PS4 (and Xbox 8 as well...) are announced, so that it gives Vita some time in the spotlight.
