Forums - Nintendo Discussion - "How I got banned from Miiverse" by d21lewis

I can still log into Miiverse. I just can't post. Here are some random posts that I see right now:

Upon logging in, I have another message from 10 hours ago from Miiverse Administration that has violated the Miiverse code of conduct--and the whole message is gone. Can't even see what I did wrong. First time that has happened! I guess somebody is policing me! Anyway:

User Waluigi says: "Waluigi likes big butts!" Family Party: 30 Great Games community

User Jade says: "if u know this website named movie star planet text me in mii verse and text me ur username" this is in the Wheel of Fortune community.

User Chilly says: "If you like german let's plays, so look at my yt. chanal :- Thechillyhotdog if you like so do komi" Nintendo Land Community

User tupperware says: "my wrists are too skinny, how can I make them fatter?" and "mr. iwata is hot"

User Stanzi has drawn an amazing Ni No Kuni (PS3 exclusive) pic in the Youtube community. I wish I could give it a "Yeah!"

In every single community I've looked at so far, $$$cutie$$$ has said "Yeah if U have a Wii U" and User Classified has said "Give a yeah if u like wii u if not tell why"

The Rabbids Land Community has been over run with people talking about Willem Defoe (WTF!?) User Kitty says "Dear Mods at Miiverse: I want to talk about Rabbids in the Rabbids Community, not Willem Dafoe."

In the Ben 10 Omnivese Community, User Daniel Pato says "ggdbgdcb6u6u)]&]][[]%='ygngf7fu"

Anyway, I'm going to stop there. Those that don't have a Wii U may want to refrain from speaking about what goes on in the Miiverse. It's not exactly what you think it is. Horrible drawings by what appear to be pre-schoolers, tons upon tons of people begging to "Yeah! if you have a 3DS" or "Yeah if you have a black Wii U", people posting consecutive notes with nothing more than hand drawn numbers, random requests for "Who wants to video chat? Add me, now!" and so forth and so on. Real highbrow and mature stuff. Totally safe environment for kids, eh?

Nintendo are making one place to post and share ideas and tips about nintendo games a better more positive experience for people of all ages, and we still get those that want it like the the rest of the interwebs

Well, then they shouldn't go out their way to try and bring in those kinds of gamers.

Mature gamers are welcome, others are not

Nintendo sees the Miiverse as a community for everyone, so respect particularly for the children is number one

If you don't like it, there is still the other 99.9999% of the interwebs you can darken with your presence

Darken with my presence?

We are obviously getting off on the wrong foot here and you must not know me very well, for I am anything but a dark presence. I am only an adult gamer and parent of (1) who doesn't fully agree with how Miiverse operates based on the information that was provided to me in this thread. I never said that those who enjoy it are wrong. I haven't said anything that could be considered as "dark", unless not agreeing with people makes you "dark". I only agreed that it should be for everyone, including iPhone gamers since Miiverse is to make it's way to that device. That and I felt (Also from the information provided to me) that the Miiverse moderation seemed overly strict.

I did not hit and run post, insult or speak to anyone in a condescending manner. I only tried to provide an alternate view to the best of my ability with the information I had and did so in a non-aggressive manner with multiple users here. All of whom laid out their take on the subject as well without resorting to getting personal. If you check through my post history you will find that I am not an overly negative poster at all and have been here for over 5 years and have had no issue following rules and have never been banned.

-------------------------------

Anyways, after reading D21's comment I can say that I was definitely given the wrong impression of Miiverse. I was given the impression that it is much different to what it actually seems to be.

I have no issues admitting when I am wrong and in this case it seems I was wrong about the kinds of discussions that go on there, based on D21's explanation. O_o

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Yes, Miiverse is a place to mainly talk about Nintendo products and arrange playing games on Nintendo platforms together. Do you think Sony and Microsoft would allow it on their own Miiverse equivalent (if they ever make one) that people invite other people to play on other platforms?

They do have it on the PS3. For years it has bee known as the only reason to own a PS3, Playstation home. It is the most badass, edgy, mouthy, visceral, immature social network out there because it is Playstation. In fact, that is all I use my PS3 for.

I think D21 Lewis who clearly needs to be kept locked away from all children would be more at home here.

:( I do have a Playstation Home account. Haven't used it in about a year but my female avatar was insanely popular. If only those people knew who they were flirting with!

LMAO! I did the same exact thing. People seem to instantly flock in your direction if they think you're a female.

LOL I bought a PS3 a few months ago but never bothered signing up for Home. Now I ought to do this. Would make for some good trolling.

You all did read the story on GAF about the guy who's NNID got banned because he let his neice draw a picture and post it on Miiverse right? Nothing violent, nothing that a child couldn't see. The issue was that "A child needs parental permission to use an adult account".

Now if I were on my account and allowed my family member to draw a nice picture I would be subjected to moderation. Not just that, but how do they know whether or not a child got permission? You would assume they knew since the drawing said on it "A picture drawn by my neice", meaning she was supervised and given permission.

I thought they promoted family spending time together and enjoying the WiiU.

It is obvious there is a problem here right now.

Well I think letting a child post in an adult's account violates the Terms of Use.  I mean that's been known since the Wii U launched.  If they find that a child is using an adult's account they will moderate it because they don't want that to happen, as most of the time the child is probably using it without consent and just imagine on a social network a child posting something like "my mom/dad just hit me" or some kind of disturbing drawing that is clearly from a troubled child in crisis.  Or something like that.

So if my daughter wants to make a picture she must first log out, then log back in under the children's account just to post that picture on the same exact Miiverse?

I am guessing family gaming only applies to when your customers are on a children's account?

Just seems redundant to me. If you disagree that's fine. I am only stating my opinion on the situation.

I mean, in my opinion, there should be a separate version of Miiverse for only children, just like Netflix has their main catalogue and a separate 'Netflix for Kids'.   That way there aren't any situations where a child unknowingly is talking to an adult and the conversation turns into something inappropriate.   I truly understand why Nintendo is so harsh with their modding, since it's a Nintendo system with little children as well as adults playing their games, not to mention no other console has a dedicated social network.   It is a unique, unprecedented situation.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

Maybe going forward they may decide to incorporate something like that. This is afterall their first real attempt at a dedicated online community on a gaming console, so understandably it takes time.

It sounds like a good idea  on paper but it depends on how they would  go about it , it just might make it easier for people looking to exploit children if theres a dedicated site , also how do they ensure who is a child and who's pretending.
