This is silly.

Even if Congress were stupid enough to pass such a law, and Obama were stupid enough to sign it (okay, those two are possible), it would be brought to the Supreme Court almost immediately, suspended and struck down.

Obama has shown time and time again that he doesn't care about those petitions; they're just a way to make him look like he's in touch and accepts advice when really he just assigns one of his aides to write a condescending, ill-informed response.

If you make it to the threshold and wait six months or so for him to bother to even do that much, you'll probably get a response along the lines of "we accept that free speech is sacred but we must protect children blah blah shootings blah blah increasingly violent behaviour".

First off if you do not live in American promote it to all your American friends.

Second if we just say petitions do not work. Then your basically saying do nothing and forget fighting this crap. We will have just of conceded without trying. If you love video games and you love playing them with people all over the world and meeting new people like I do. That is why I want to fight for this industry and the hobby I like. Playing games is something fun I can do and meet new people and have fun with. I grew up with all different types of video games, but if we do not do anything then we have already lost.

No it wouldn't. The Supreme Court only has original jurisdiction when the case involves a diplomat, when a state is a Plaintiff, or when the federal government goes up against a state.

IF this ever gets to the Supreme Court, it would 1) be the first such case to do so in roughly two decades of similar legislation floating about, and 2) would take several years to reach the Supreme Court. Five years would be lightning quick for this type of thing, in my opinion.

For what it's worth, based on the people I've talked to in Washington someone somewhere is going to read this petition and kick it up the line. Every letter, e-mail, and petition is received and read, and in select cases even taken seriously.

That said, it's likely going to go to some high-school intern. Just fair warning!

Well we need to get 100,000 signatures in order for this to get to are goal. As of right now not doing as well as I hoped. Who cares it still might get noticed since it is no the topic of video games and not a serious issue like others are on. That is why it might get headline news!!!
