I hate to be the Debbi Downer in this thread, but a lot of what Digital Foundry posted is still only rumors and speculation.

Pretty sure everyone knows this :P

Between this and the other rumor, I want this rumor to be true! But this one is a lot more plausible than the other. A current top of the line laptop gpu vs a low w 6670 from 3 years ago...

And please change yo avatar, I find it disturbing!

What does WiiU use? Sorry my memory is rusty...

I don't know what Wii U uses but the die size is small than a HD 7670 using the same process... the power consuption too... so all things conspire to a GPU weak than a HD 7670.

How would backward compatibility work out with these specs? Possible or impossible?

if it's x86 (or x64) there won't be bc. simple as that. emulating with these processors alone is a no-go.

Sounds powerful, but pretty affordable. That 4gig DDR5 ram is what will really set it apart from the Next Xbox.

It's GDDR5. Its based off DDR3 but it is faster and can completely empty its contents instantly unlike regular DIMM sticks.

No next gen console is using the 7670

Well Wii U uses a GPU small than that lol.

and if they wanna price it at 350$ as many rumors said, don't think they will go for a high end gpu, and as nintendo did with the wii u, i think they'll try to use the cpu to take much of the load out of the gpu to increase performance, but i don't think this will be future proof

Wii U price is due the Pad... the harware without the Pad is cheaper.

Many of you are reading way too much into this rumor.

1) its APU design that is utilizing mobile AMD components for laptops etc. Its not even current high-end PC tech. The 7XXX GPU mentioned is actualy "7XXXD" and is in reality 6XXX tech and not equal to the stand-alone 7XXX cards you'd put in your PC.

2) its not GDDR5, further more that is nearly not as important as the CPU/GPU which is covered above.

We're looking at something ~2-3x the power of WiiU which in turn is ~2x the power of PS360.

These are not new rumors, merely twists to current and adding in some terms like GDDR5 that are actually not correct.

This does sound powerful enough for a next gen console and the parts make sense so this very well could be true

Though one of the most interesting rumors is the next xbox OS requiring 3 GB of RAM. Thats massive for a console

How would 1 even use 3gb of Ram for the OS? Windows and then what?

Windows 8, multiple actively running aps, full time always on Kinect functionality

Its certainly possible to use 3 GB for the OS.  Basically if true MS is probably not looking at the 360 as a gaming console at all is goin to have it be a full on media device to a level weve never seen from consoles.

I really don't know how I would  feel if MS goes for the full on PC type gaming console that does everything that a laptop or desktop can do.  Is it really necessary?  All I want is a powerful game console that has a focus on awesome games and has good apps that people use.  I feel like if MS goes for full media device then they will lose focus on the gaming part, which more than likely is what people who buy the nextbox will want the most. But, that's just me.  I'm gonna buy both either way so it doesn't really matter a whole lot to me.

We are looking at something 10x better than PS360 and ~6.5x better than Wii U with these specs.

GDDR5 is correct... it's the fastest RAM disponible for Graphics to date and the PS4 OS will not be that complex to need DDR3 RAM.
