I think neither the PS4 and 720 will have laptop components. I expect both consoles to be a powerhouse, I don't care and don't need a green console, my 650watt pc amuses me.

7900 GT: Pretty much the GPU of PS3 and high end GPU of its time

Geforce 680GTX: Modern high end GPU

There is your answer why we don't get high end GPUs anymore in consoles.  We already had heat problems with this gen consoles...

Giving the 7900GT to RSX is being waay too kind...

"Based on NV47 Chip previously based on the 7800 but with cut down features like lower memory bandwidth and only as many ROPs as the lower end 7600."

But yeah, your point remains clear. Like Turkish said, something like 7850 or 650Ti even would be highly possible.

How would backward compatibility work out with these specs? Possible or impossible?

probably not possible as that outfit would be really GPU heavy (while PS3 is CPU heavy) and although DF says PS4 may use an 8 core CPU, I highly doubt it could emulate the Cell that easily

Pfft...650 Watts. Till you crack 1000 Watts with your PC you haven't lived life. :P

Hahaha! That time will come, once I have a dual gpu setup. ^_^

Overclock everything and add water pumps is key to crossing the 1000 Watts. You must draw over 1000 Watts from the socket to join the club! :)

Ridiculously difficult I'd imagine. Going from IBM/Cell to X86 isn't ideal, and you need a lot of extra power for emulation that I doubt these will have considering the CPU is relatively weak by modern standards.

Streaming for B/C is more likely imo.

It is much more powerful than I would imagine these consoles to be, so I won't let myself be hyped for that just yet

so im to tired to read the article, but if they are right, how powerful are these things going to be?

Could easily play Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2 on max settings in 1080p

i hope this is true!! this is how i feel!

The part about the Orbis having the same CPU as Durango seems new.

wait so is the 7850 more powerful than the 7970(the chip that is said to be used in this rumor)?
