I think neither the PS4 and 720 will have laptop components. I expect both consoles to be a powerhouse, I don't care and don't need a green console, my 650watt pc amuses me.

Not just any ram! 4GB GDDR5 ram!

Pfft...650 Watts. Till you crack 1000 Watts with your PC you haven't lived life. :P

7900 GT: Pretty much the GPU of PS3 and high end GPU of its time
Geforce 680GTX: Modern high end GPU
There is your answer why we don't get high end GPUs anymore in consoles. We already had heat problems with this gen consoles...

I don't know if I'm reading the article wrong, because other people seem way more excited at this than I think they should be... but, basically as powerful as a middle of the road gaming PC in terms of specs, potentially a bit better with optimization. Basically, look at some of the higher end PC games running at higher end settings and that's what to expect.

Yeah, AMD is quite competitive on price from the get go. I like AMD CPUs myself... Most PC game benchmarks that favor Intel tend to be very biased for single threaded performance. If you run Antivirus, while streaming a video somewhere else and playing Crysis 2, AMD 8 core will be better than Intel's. And I think that's what these consoles are going for...multitasking multimedia machines. |
Yeah also running AMD CPU and really want them to stay in business so that Intel will have at least some competition. Rocking Phenom II X6 1055T and still plays games great =P My friends laughed at me when I went with X6 instead of normal X4 Phenoms as back then X4 were actually little quicker with games as they had higher clocks but I think that now I am starting to reap the benefits of those extra two cores.

Could easily play Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2 on max settings in 1080p

It doesn't have to be the top of the line gpu, GTX680 is overkill and too expensive lol. I'd rather have HD7850 in the next consoles.

"That said, the AMD connection that defines both Durango and Orbis confirms that both consoles are much closer in design to gaming PCs than their predecessors....it would be richly ironic if PC owners reaped the benefits..."
This is truly good news.
Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Hahaha! That time will come, once I have a dual gpu setup. ^_^
