Forums - PC - Help buying laptop for sister

I'm buying a laptop for my sister and she seem to have the worst luck with her computer's they always slow down badly or break so I want to make sure she get's one that is extremely reliable and fast (she had a DELL and maybe HP before). Now  it doesn't need to have a big GPU because she said she only wants one for emails, pictures, videos and music, something that will always access all that stuff fast. There's a max budget of $1000.

She seemed to be wanting a mac but I figured for a $1000 I can probably get a really nice high end reliable PC when you'll only get a low end mac for $1000. So I was thinking maybe ASUS or HP any thoughts on which laptop would be most suitable for her, something fast and will stay fast and very reliable. Good battery would be nice to.

I'm currently looking some up now I'll post some when I find anything good.

Asus brother

If all she wants to do is check her email, pictures, the web, and have some music a low-end MacBook is enough. The MacBook Air is 999$ and it has an SSD which makes it run pretty quickly. (As I'm sure you know.)

My MacBook Pro hasn't slowed down at all and it is a 2010 Version.

Stop! We would need a picture of your sister first before we can help you.. Helps with determing the right laptop..

But they only have from 64GB - 128GB of SSD, I'm not 100% about her but that wouldn't last me long.

That wouldn't last me too long either, but you said she doesn't do much. The most intensive thing it seems your sister is doing is downloading music/watching videos, right?

if she just wants one for emails/music/ video then a laptop with a core i3 with an intel HD graphic card is more than enough. you can find a computer like that in the range of 300~400 bucks depending on your luck. i advice she gets something like that because it would actually offer more battery life and is also much cheaper. i can give u some links if you want. it would be a waste of money if she got something for 1000$ bucks like you suggested just to surve the net and watch some movies.

So her previous laptops were dell and HP you say, I would have never guessed she had problems with them, lol xD

Anyways get an Asus or Acer, they usually come with warranties and from my experience they last longer than others.

On the other hand, software wise, Mac computers are really good because their operating systems doesn't have to be reinstalled every year to not slow down. So if she's not going to be rough on the hardware and planns on keeping the laptop a long time, I recommend Mac.

I LOVE ICELAND!
