Forza Franchise Losing Popularity

Forza Individual Game Sales (First 10 weeks)

The Forza franchise peaked with Forza 3 for 10-week sustainability and 10-week total sales. (10-week totals shown below)

Forza 2:

28th July 2007 10 20,503 -15.9% 808,261

Forza 3:

26th December 2009 10 186,514 5.9% 1,874,771

Forza 4:

17th December 2011 10 161,465 17.5% 1,577,060

Forza Horizon:

29th December 2012 10 87,642 -11.6% 1,055,769

The 10-weeks follow the same release period for Forza 3, 4, and Horizon. Forza 2 is the outlier.

As you can see by the charts, the Forza franchise has been experiencing diminishing returns on its investment over a 10-week period.

The same can be said for it's LTD sales for each iteration:

Forza 2 - 3.99m

Forza 3 - 5.33m

Forza 4 - 3.82m (less than Forza 2 even)

Forza Horizon: 1.1m

Have Turn 10 Studios saturated the market? Will Forza 5 achieve similar success to Forza 4? Discuss.

Com uma força!!! i mean FORZA

it's enough for many to own one or two simulators for a console, that's all. many own forza 2 and 3 and don't need more.

but taking horizon in your consideration is not really useful because it's another kind of game for a different group of people. i remember a thread where some people said they expect it to sell way lower as other forza games and only 1-2m exactly because it's no mainline forza.

we could ask the question if it is really worth to release more horizon games and i think they should rather make pgr games instead.

Absolutely agree.

Wasn't sure how to deal with Horizon; even with it out, you can see a shrinking base from Forza 3 to Forza 4.

The franchise is still the same size as it was when Forza 4 was released. Forza: Horizon has sold poorly because it's not a mainline Forza game. It's as simple as that. I'm a huge Forza fan and I didn't bother getting it. Gears of War: Judgement and God of War: Ascension will also sell significantly less than their predecessors because they're not mainline games.

Anyway, 1 Forza game every 2 years is a good amount to keep the fanbase happy and not saturate the market. Any more than that and they're overdoing it.

Aaanyway, this is gonna start a flame war. Locking.
