One game is bigger franchise than another game? It's bad enough you're making an off-the-wall post, but then you have missteps throughout even that.

I get that. I just don't see how it connects here, and it has obvious errors at that.

my point being is don't judge how populer a franshise is by sales only, cause you don't know how it got there, wether it be bundles or bargain bin, the best way to judge is by looking at offical numbers its first 2 months availble, when your game sells 4.5 million in one month, you know the franchise is important to them, they been waiting for that game to come out.

Then I expect to see you in every sales thread for every game repeating this. :)

well there only a few big time franshises that can do 4 million in one month, i personally only track games by npd and chart track, the first 2 months after that its really just am estimate by vgchartz and sometimes there way off.

Apparently its ok to compare Halo Reach sales to GT5, but not Halo 4, so i guess thats another rule they made up.

I really enjoy gears of war, but it was going 2 happen sooner or later as Uncharted 3 is epic and the series has always had long selling legs.

About the "desirable item" comment. The vast majority of the 4m+ owners certainly did not buy one since they would be off cheaper by simply buying the DLCs, so who exactly desired it ? It doesn't really add many sales it just shifts sales from the cheaper version to the GOTY edition.

Uncharted has a hardcore fanbase like Aldro, who have 2 copies of the game, he even wants a 3rd one for the Explorers edition.

Every decent selling game has at least one hardcore follower. Absolutely no idea why you mentioned Aldro in this debate since I didn't rule out that previous owners may buy the GOTY edition. Just not in any amounts that people might think.

And yes the huge spike is due to the GOTY bundle (and UC1 and UC2 got a similar bundle during the last holiday and saw a similar boost).

So what? The spike is due to the GOTY edition, not solely due to GOTY edition being bundled with a PS3. If you have numbers on the procentual share of GOTY editions being in bundles, you're welcome to share them.

This is a good thread, a copycat thread would be comparing Halo with GT. Valid comparisons that people are interested in. Kinect Adventures vs GT is nonsensical and adds nothing to the discussion. UC vs Gears is really interesting, both have been compared dozens of times on VGC so I'm not sure why you're having a problem with it this time around.

Because this time he is not winning.

Seriously, if Uncharted is outselling Gears due to bundling, why don't Microsoft bundle one of its gladiators with their console to overtake PS3's sales? Xbox 360 sold less than 100K last year for several weeks, Microsoft should understand that Gears is not selling now, so they should bundle it according to these guys speculation. That way, they will make some profit on console, no?

I'd suggest to both of you that you re-read my post as I haven't said anywhere that Uncharted and Gears shouldn't be compared.

 

Also you can only lose if there is something to win...

I would usually agree with you, but it seems as if the UC3 bundle is the cheapest option for the PS3. So I  agree with  people saying the increase is partly due to massive bundling. If there was a cheaper option I wouldn't give that theory a second thought. (It is the cheapest option right?)
