My next movie is not set on earth. It's about a man coming to terms with himself, literally, after being isolated for years with only an AI for company.

It's 2001: Space Odyssey.  Really don't like it wouldn't even make my top 500 movie list of all time.  Still don't get why its so popular I'm guessing a lot of people where stoned when they watched it.

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

Not not 2001, that one is in my top 10...
Why don't you like it? The attention to detail is amazing on the big screen, still the most realistically portrayed interplanetary travel scenario in sf movies. The ending makes a lot more sense after reading the book. Never watched it stoned though, I would imagine that would put you to sleep long before the 'experimental' special effects sequence.

Looks like a movie I'll like from what I gathered on IMDB and blu-ray.com.
Ordered the blu-ray, says 2-4 weeks for delivery unfortunately. I should be able to watch it just before the top 50 is done.

My #18 is It Happened One Night, one of only three movies to win all five major Academy Awards -- Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress. Part romance, part adventure, part screwball comedy, It Happened One Night is a classic movie that stands as director Frank Capra's best. The onscreen chemistry between leads Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert is outstanding.

18. Moon, 2009, Duncan Jones

Sci-fi at it's best. In the near future all our enegry comes from fusion power. The helium-3 fuel for this is most easily mined on the moon. Sam mans one of the harvesting stations on the moon in a 4 year contract with only Gerty, a robot AI to keep him company. Near the end of his contract things start going wrong and he slowly discovers the reality of his isolation.
I don't want to give away more in case you haven't seen it yet. A smart sci-fi movie that makes you think about what it is to be human and how you would deal with being isolated for years. The attention to detail is perfect with a great soundtrack that keeps you immersed to the end. They didn't have the budget to simulate 1/6th gravity indoors but it's not necessary, the movie looks and works great regardless. It's one of those movies I immediately started again with the commentary track to find out how the sets were made and listen to the thoughts of the director. More of these please.

My next movie is sci-fi too. A more literal quest to find out what it takes to be human.

17: Wheels on Meals

probably one of the the best fighting scenes in movie history

here it is : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXVp9938Uq4

Posted my 18th pick North by Northwest my next movie is a sequel that probably inspired both Doom and the Halo franchise.

Aliens.

I'll give an easier clue for my nr 17. It shares a lot of similarities with The Matrix, but was released earlier.
