My next movie had 3 sequels, all by different directors and recently got a prequel or spin off by the original director. It also had a couple of true spin offs too between the last sequel and new prequel merging it with another less popular franchise.

Alien?

Yes, too easy. First one is still the best.

28. Alien, 1979, Ridley Scott

The best horror is that which you can't see. The Alien is beautifully crafted but you have to wait for it to see it. Suspense is great throughout the whole movie as is the pacing. The space ship set is one of the most memorable in sci-fi, lovingly created from old bomber aircraft parts. That's probably why it holds up so well in HD. There is so much detail in the background which makes it look like a real lived in ship. It is one of the best looking blu-ray upgrades there is, I finally got to see it as it was intended in the cinema.

thats the one thing i will never understand ..IMO HD completely destroys the atmosphere especially in old movies like alien I always prefer VHS over BR or DVD.

Tsubasa Ozora

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

the actor in my next movie almost died while jumping on a tree

hint : he performes almost all his stunts by himself

I love all the little details. I watch movies with a 1080p projector and prefer slower paced movies that let my eyes wander over the screen to soak up all the detail. That adds to the atmosphere and immersion for me. Sure the little baby alien looks absolutely fake, looked fake on VHS too. The big alien looks great in HD and the sets look fantastic.

I like it when I can see the art behind the magic, noticing the strings in the dark crystal doesn't bother me, that only adds to the respect I have for the art. It's all make belief in the end, using well known actors is a much bigger immersion breaker for me. Inglorious bastards almost made my top 50, but the scenes with Brad Pitt hold it down. A shame because Christoph Waltz's performance is near perfect.

The problem I have with most older movies is the sound quality. No amount of restoration can help with the poor sound effects and limited audio range. Modern shows have problems too, far too many stock sound effects are used. There are a couple that you hear all the time, big immersion breaker for me.

Must be Jacky Chan.

Google confirms it, but it's not Drunken Master.
One I haven't seen yet, sounds like fun.

The movie is Amour of God.  Unfortunately now Jackie Chan movie made my top 50 if it where a top 100 list I think probably 10 ten of his movies would have made the list.

Armour of God that is correct :))

he almost died because of a head injury (stunt n1)

what people do not now about this man is that he wrote and directed his best movies like dragon lord, operation condor, the young master, project A2, armour of god etc..he literally revolutionized HK cinema and invented the quick replay time event(multiple camera, angles showing one scene from different perspectives) thats how its called i think lol

he constantly plays with his own life to entertain us viewers..he deserves more praise!

i know what you mean but most movies look like a reality show to me and that is why I prefer grainy, snowy pictures instead.

Argh, I forget to update. My #28 is On the Waterfront. What can I say about this movie? It won so many awards for a reason. Everything in it is outstanding -- cinematography, direction, music, writing -- but the highlight is the groundbreaking performance by Marlon Brando. His scene with Rod Steiger in the backseat of a car is one of the more powerful and memorable scenes in the history of movies.
