My #36 is Psycho, a groundbreaking movie that pushed new levels of violence and sexuality into Hollywood movies. It's still scary, shocking, and disturbing even after 50 years; no horror film has ever topped it. The movie starts off slowly -- even leisurely -- but that only makes the inevitable violence more startling. As in Rear Window, Hitchcock manages in his movie to lure the audience in and make it complicit in the crime. Perhaps the biggest highlight of Psycho is the musical score by Bernard Herrmann, which makes the infamous shower scene even more intense.

Posted my 36th pick which is Jaws. Next on my list was Clint Eastwood's last acting performance before he changed his mind.

35. The never ending story, 1984, Wolfgang Petersen

My 35th spot was a last minute decision between The dark crystal and The never ending story. Both among the best in pre cgi fantasy imagery and they still look better then cgi in places.
After watching both again the choice was clear. The dark crystal did age better and still looks stunning on blu-ray. The amount of craftmanship that went in the decors and characters is unmatched. However as a movie the neverending story beats it hands down.

The first time I saw The never ending story was when I was 11. We saw it in the classroom on our teacher's birthday. Curtains closed, big old crt tube on a tall dolly with a vcr the size of a pc under it. I was totally blown away by the movie at the time. It still has the power to make me feel 11 years old again.

I read the book later, which is even better in certain aspects. The book's ability to break the fourth wall and talk directly to the reader is portrayed in the movie, however it's a bit like watching somebody else play the psycho mantis scene in mgs instead of playing it yourself. Not that it really matters, it's one of the best children's movies regardless.

My #35 is The Godfather Part II. It's not an easy task picking one Godfather over the other, but my vote has to go to Part II which is larger in size and scope than its predecessor. The narrative logic of Part II is a big part of what makes it so great. Two stories, both of which are strong enough to support an entire movie on their own, are brilliantly woven together by Francis Ford Coppola and Mario Puzo. DeNiro shines as Vito Corleone. The Godfather Part II was the first sequel to win an Oscar for Best Picture.

>_> Yah, my dear

OK, here's one for you. My #34 is also an animated movie. It won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature in one of the few years Pixar didn't release a feature film.

Ooooh, is it from 2002 (in the West)?

If so, it's probably my favorite animated movie, Spirited Away!

That is correct!
