So I'd say a price drop would have to be lower than either of these. £170 with memory card and possibly a game too would be sensible.

I agree, there is no reason for Nintendo to drop the 3DS price, no matter what Sony does.  People forget that profit is the goal, not to sell a few units more.  The 3DS will do fine regardless.  Nintendo isn't that reactionary, especially when a knee-jerk price cut would probably be a negative for investors.

I won't be getting one until it's under $100 USD and has been permanently hacked. For me handhelds can't cost too much because they can be easily broken, lost or stolen and ever since the DS the most important feature I'm looking for is the hacked ability to run emulators and other home brew software.

3DS just became profitabe at $169 in August, so I don't think it makes sense for them to drop the price until sometime next year if sales start to dry up.  3DS is doing well in all territories, and exploding in Japan.  Nintendo has no reason to sacrifice profitability at this point, as the initial price drop in 2011 saved the fortunes of the system.



Srry i mislead... I meant only if Vita is $179.99. Personally i think it will be $219.99 cuz sony doesnt want to lose money but if they do this they better include a game and a 4gig!

What people also forget is that towards the tail end of its lifespan, the DSi was selling at 150 which was actually more expensive than the PSP 3000 which was 130.   Right now, I think the 3DS would sell better than the Vita, even at the same price.  The 3DS simply has more perceived value right now.

50 dollars is expensive for a 32 GB memory card? I guess at this time, I remember buying one for that price years ago for my PSP ;p


Yeah, memory has become way cheaper recently.  Charging as much as they do surely isn't neccessary to make a profit.

At this point i dont think a price cut is enough. The market has lost confidence on the Vita's long term viability.

It needs a price cut and some pretty big games coming its way.

Oh and those memory cards... sony, sony... you never learn. Consumers arent as stupid as you make them out to be.
