Forums - Sales - Will Animal Crossing face the same fate as Nintendogs or Brain Training?

Seems like a more Japan-centric game, like Fire Emblem. Not that they're similar in genre, but that they do far better in Nintendo's native country than in other territories. Especially launching in the Spring instead of the holidays, yikes. I have low expectations for New Leaf over here. It's not exactly a summer blockbuster. If they sold it at $29 instead of $39 they might be able to gain some traction, though.

FIre Emblem has proven to sell better in America usually though.

Any comments on the Gender distribution of 3DS owners in other regions?

It will do decently, I'm sure. The problem is will there be a loss in sold units like the other 2 once huge "casual" titles. I don't see it reaching 2mil numbers like the last one.

I think New Leaf should be able to get 1.5 to 2.0 Million sales in America. Again, based on marketing.

3DS is insanely popular in Japan, and Animal Crossing is the latest craze.  I don't think that Nintendo can realistically expect the same kind of response over here.  With females I'd say it's unlikely to come anywhere near the 60% in the US.  3DS is predominantly a male-owned system, and 3DS overall is soft outside of Japan, and Animal Crossing is unlikely to change the situation much over here.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

How was Nintendogs marketed? 1.5 to 2mil is a little high, I'd say 1.2 mil max.

Do you mean the 3DS version? If so, I didn't see anything for it.

I think over 2mil, maybe 1.5-1.75 this year

Then do you honestly expect Nintendo to take a risk and market this in a pre-dominant male gaming audience for 3DS? I'm just really afraid that if this title doesn't do well then Nintendo might go "well guess there's  no market here for Japan games after all! Cancel all localizations!"

Seriously what's with people believing that this will even remotely come close to WW numbers? Gimme some reasons

Well I guess the only difference between Animal Crossing and Nintendogs is that one of them is actually a good game

Yes, I expect Nintendo to market this game. They can't just throw it out there and expect it do perform amazingly.
