Every article I see on PS4 I see someone comment that it won't come out till PS3 has been around 10 years or Sony betrayed us.  This is not a difficult thing to understand people.  10 year life-cycle=/= no successor for 10 years.  PS2 is still going after 12 years and yet PS3 did indeed come out.  Feel free to ask me to clarify further and help end this stupid misconception once and FOR ALL!

did you mean that you see the same person posting the same comment in each ps4 thread or you mean multiple people all using the Hive mind to predict negative thoughts to the ps4? I mean I sort of get that you want to make a thread out of the one thing people post you think is wrong but if it's not open to debate why make the thread?

I'd personally think that after the ps4 comes out they're going to drop the ps3 like a bad habit just so they don't end up with a situation like their handhelds, New gen one with zero BC causes the older hardware to compete for sales for the one company. The ps4 simply wont be able to have hardware BC and compete so they're going to want to distance the new platform right off the bat to prevent it having competition from their last gen machine.

I always got the impression that sony meant that the ps4 would only appear after a 10 year reign for the ps3. However, the huge increase in pc power as well the xbox being fairly similar in power to the ps3 have meant that this really wouldnt be a smart move, especially since the xbox (nor the wii) are 10 year consoles. Sony would have seen this and planned acordingly and hence we will likely see a launch this year or 2014.

Having said this, I in no way think that sony lied or betrayed us. When things change you have to adapt and now that the Wii U is already out and the Xbox 720 is coming soon, it only makes sense for them to bring out their console now. Anyone who thinks sony betrayed them is an idiot and you really shouldnt be wasting time on them.

I don't understand.

No one thinks that, they just love to complain. 10 year life-cycle means the PS3 will get software support for ten years, first-party at least.. It has nothing to do with a successor, as it happens fairly often that support for the older platform continues well into the life-span of the successor.
