When next gen begins and the X720 and PS4 come out with there machines it's pretty clear the graphcis will look very good, already this gen there are some games that probably wouldn't look a whole lot better if it were next gen.

Judging by some next gen trailers the graphics are going to look amazing, so much that the generation after that probably won't be a big leap in graphics. Main focus can finally be on new features, AI, physics etc.

So what do you think will graphics continue to be acknowledged like it always has been after 8th gen is over?

Graphics will still be a big part of next gen.

The graphics leap this gen was great. The gameplay and the experience however were not. Still there are games with too many bugs and a focus on solely on presentation. I'd like to see less foray into the "realistic" and more focus on the gameplay.

Nope. Graphic whores will always be there.

What scares me the most about next gen is that devs will focus too much on graphics and thus the development cost will increase. We will reach a point where selling 1m units won't be enough to gain profits (or even break even), if that's the case we are only going to see the big guys next gen, very rarely are we going to see a new IP (In terms of AAA games). 

But the answer is no, the graphics wars will continue until the end of video games.

the war will of course not end because graphics are a feature that can be judget quite objectively as it in certain ways can be measuserd. it will still be the base of many threads containing a lot of hate and downplaying,

System A will have a game with great smooth graphics. System B will have a game with the same art direction and look, but a few trees will have slightly less smooth shadows far in the background that you must go out of your way and place your face 3 inches away from your 4K display to notice. Gamers will post extremely zoomed in pics on forums and comment about System A shitting all over System B's graphics capability.

This is the future that I see.
