Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Stock Rises Due To Wii U revenue

Investors are (mostly) not gamers. They react to sales and mainstream hype. They have no idea what games are a big deal or what sales will be. If you are into games - and don't get too emotionally involved - there is potential to be ahead of the curve and make some money buying and selling.

Neither do gamers, really. This site's community, filled with adequately informed gamers, has done laughably in predicting the sales of just about everything it has tried in the past few years. Ex: 3DS launch, 3DS doom, Vita launch, Wii U launch, etc.

Also, people here still hold on to silly ideas like new IPs being a necessarily good thing for sales. Plus, lots of people seem to expect far too much from reviewer-loved or niche games. They really don't know anything.

"Profit"?? They said themselves that they lose on every WiiU sold. Man, the stock market is weird

Well games and accesories will put them back in the green also.

I'd say with the new Pokemon announcement that Stocks will raise a lot more if this wasn't an effect due to that anyways

Could also be due to the incedibly positive 3DS performance.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

It was clearly because of the Pokemon announcement.

My head=Nuked. I thought they we're loosing money on it.

They are really going to lose money on Wii u in NA. Even then all it takes is one game sale to make a profit. In Europe and Japan it should be all profit.

Which was confirmed to be wrong a few days ago.

pokemon announcement didn't have anything to do with it.  Stock was flat when it was announced

revenues don't equal profits, so we don't know the Wii U situation right now.  All we do know is that 1 game sold with the console does not turn a profit as initially reported.

or it could be due to it being at a 52 week all time low.  The shares are being sold for under book value.  The stock is a steal right now for investors.  A few heavy investors could of drove up the stock today along with the positive revenue sales pulling in casual investors.

Reggie was misquoted/wrong. They need more than 1 game

correct, which equates to it being "scary time for investors",  how much of the Wii U is cutting into Nintendo Q3 profits?  or were they able to sell enough software and acessories to offset it?  I'm guessing they haven't, but we are in the dark until they tell us something.
