The lower picture is Xbox1? The textures are far less detailed (compare the human to the monsters of pic 1) and seem to be a bit more muddy in case of the environment.

Stop stalking my posts.

No the textures are not less detailed. They are more detailed and the game is running at a much higher resolution. Stop stalking my posts trying to inanely argue everything - you mistake bump mapping and bloom for detail and ignored the 720p comment.

That's a coincidence. Also, I posted first in that other thread. I'm not exactly stalking you. I'm just busy commenting on the hot topics.

Such a coincidence that you didn't respond to any of the thread relevant context in my post...*facepalm*

I only wanted to respond to your accusation of me stalking you.

@topic:

I can't quite agree with his definition of next-gen. I think he focuses too much on the innovation aspect. Also he seems to be a bit too fixated on the CPU and GPU. The WiiU garden and ZeldaU demo already showed a glimpse of what the WiiU is capable of with the outdated(?) CPU, we don't need to hear it again and again. Obviously it CAN be balanced out, so we shouldn't worry too much.

The issue is that tech demos are never really a good demonstration of what a game will be like as a tech demo will be:
a) Ridiculously optimised
b) Playing to the GPU's strengths.

For example, look at some of the brilliant tech demos by Nvidia. Here's a good example:
http://www.nvidia.com/coolstuff/demos#!/human-head

Now that demo does run brilliantly on many cards, but in reality no game comes close to that mainly because it's just a static scene, just as the garden demo won't have AI involved etc.

Edited for accuracy.
The garden wasn't a zelda tech demo, so we will have to wait and see.

Because technology is very important as it allows better AI, and better graphics help a lot with immersion. I'd say the Wii wasn't next gen. If you ignore hardware then what makes something next gen becomes very messy (release date, name etc all have issues when compared to PS3 slim, or xbox elite - think about it ;) )

Because controllers aren't hardware.....

The controller wasn't next gen. If it was then everyone would have shifted to motion controls and they certainly haven't. PC gamers ignored motion controls altogether (for the most part) and more people play with pads then with motion controls. The Wii was in no way next-gen and the wii u has yet to show itself as being next-gen.

But you agree there is no reason YET to think Legend of Zelda U won't look at least as good as the tech demo?

Nope, but that's not next gen, that just puts it on par with the other consoles.

Next gen = the samaritan demo, Ungine & Stone Giant benchmark or something of that quality. Don't get me wrong - doing what it has done/will do on 75W is outstanding, but that green feature isn't going to make gamers jump at the console.

but the first video is 2 years older so its lower quality

Basically Wii U is not next gen in terms of power but is next gen in terms of gameplay innovation. Got ya.

Essentially, the term "next-gen" is whatever the hell you want to make of it.

The actual point, however, is that the processing speed is not "horrible and slow". If not, then there are no consoles on the market with remotely decent processors.

They were all "in game shots" and I was not mixing and matching to make one look better than the other. You can always go look through ign or watch videos of each of the said games and you will notice, again that there was not a substantial leap when it comes to what was coming out near the end of the xbox's life and the 360's launch. Actually, since videos do not lie, I'll provide  both Forza and PGR2.

Forza

PGR2

Riiiiiiiight, so where was the HUD for the Doom screenshot?

Also PGR2 was an xbox game, not a 360 game...

Here's PGR3:

My bad on the vid (accidentally got the wrong one)

Oh and here's Doom 3 (could find a good pic with the hud so here's a vid as well)
