this has nothing to do with ps3 hardware sales though.

nor does it have anything to do with Christmas.
Ivader did you even read the OP?
On topic:
First time I said it: "Bluray is the winning HD format."
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
For those that don't like pie charts:
Here's how the January Week 1 unit sales looked for each format (week ending 1/5)...
Blu-ray Disc - 15,257 units
HD-DVD - 14,558 units
That was prior to the Warner announcement, which came on 1/4. Now here's how the January Week 2 unit sales data for each format looked AFTER the announcement (for the week ending 1/12)...
Blu-ray Disc - 21,770 units
HD-DVD - 1,758 units

wooow that much :OOOO sales are pretty low if you ask me
even the psp sells more
uhh .. ouch 14,558 -> 1,758 that's a reduction by ~88%
well this week will be better for the HD DVD , for Toshiba decreased prices
It would be interesting to compare those numbers with Marketplace/iTunes (does it have movies yet?) numbers.

Not really, Betamax was better then VHS if you look at quality, HD-DVD is worse then Blu-ray in quality so they are not exactly alike, good to see that Blu-ray is going strong though, I think it's all because Blu-ray sounds so much cooler then HD-DVD..
PSN: TrbSvns.
Yowsa, that looks very grim for HD-DVD. Let's see an end to this folly now and get one definate format in our living rooms.
