It will do a bit better in its first 6 months than the Gamecube and worse than N64/Wii. I would say that is very bad.

You love hating on Nintendo right? In every thread of Nintendo, I see you bashing the wiiU. This thread was about how you thought the wiiU did in 2012 and the numbers show that it has the second best launch numbers in the console history with 2.48m units sold in 6 weeks. Yet, you didn't even answer what the OP was asking and just started making your doom prediction ( which by the way you formulated your sentence, you are making it look like you are stating a fact which is false and very subjective) which is not revelant at all to this thread. So keep your anti-nintendo and wiiU comments to yourself. Or at the very least, answer what the OP is asking.

How is having an opinion about the sales in any means bashing the console? Also I would like to see numbers, maybe a graph comparing Wii U to every other console launch?  Of course, all launches aligned. Care to show that?

Of course it is relevant to this thread, since even the op states "1st year".

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=143287&page=10

"Even though I would like to see nintendo go down, it is very unlikely to happen. Maybe the stock drops enough for a bigger company *cough ms cough* to pony up some $$$ and get a majority share, but nintendo would not still go away. Their games would just be on another console."

You just lost all of your credibility when I read this statement of yours on another thread which I linked above. This just proved my point. And also, your comment was irrevelant to this thread because the OP clearly was talking about 1st year as in 2012, not first full year as in 365 days. If you would of read and used your logic a bit instead of trying to be an anti-nintendo elitist, you would of known that your comment was completly irrevelant to this thread.

Is there a reason why you think that I care about credibility in your eyes? If so, please let me know so that I can correct that mistake.

Well, you can color me surprised that it's selling at all, just like with the 3DS.

I think it looks to be doing good. Just needs some games before I'm even considering it, just like with the 3DS.

To compare Wii U launch to those launches is something which makes me smile. "Look it did better than 360&ps3" is quite amusing as we do know that they had bad launches and managed to turn around, mostly because of the plethora of games those consoles had. Wii U is not going to turn around, I believe that it will follow Wii curve quite closely, except it will be a shorter one. I see the sales landing between GC and N64.

So...

Let me get this straight.

PS360 had a bad launch and turned around. So, the WiiU is going to fail because it had a good launch?

Logic.

Wii U did not have a good launch, it had worse launch than its predecessor. If you use the curve from wii sales, you will see where Wii U sales are likely to be. I know I should not state this again, but why not. PS360 had all the third party support, which is something Wii U does not have.

When Wii with the magical sales it had did not get the 3rd party support later, why do you think Wii U would get it?

I'm not expecting it to match Wii numbers, but the Wii proved Nintendo apparently didn't need 3rd party support anyway. So no 3rd party support =/= low sales. Personally I think support will be better because the consoles are going to be in the same ballpark power/feature-wise.

That said, WiiU only had a bad launch in comparison to it's direct predecessor. In comparison with all other consoles ever, it had a good launch.

So are you agreeing with me that the wii u will follow wii sales curve? Or do you think that it will follow ps3/360 sales curve just with nintendo games? :)

And since you edited,

Wii U has a bit better launch than the GC. Worse launch than N64. One could assume that nintendo console launches are the best way to measure the success of a launch, right? Also Ps2 had way better launch than Wii U, when you align the launch days. But I guess you are just happy to ignore the fact that it launched 7 months earlier in Japan.

I'm thinking the WiiU sales will be far more 'balanced' over the years than Wii's was. Wii was a phenominon in the early days and died off rather abrupt, WiiU obviously won't be a phenominon to the same degree, however it should be far better capable in sustaining reasonable sales. So, if that looks like a curve more like the PS360, so be it .

Based on what? The numerous third party games announced for the console?

Based on that it will be far better able to compete later in the gen than the Wii ever was, since it won't be a generation behind in tech.

So, you base that on wishful thinking. Got it.
