The next MS console is going to have bluray in it which is going to take a compelling reason for A LOT of people to own a PS(x) console. Lastly and disconnected from the conversation: Ever wonder if there would even be a PS3 now if MS had gone blueray in the first place? Things that make you go hmmm. |
360 having a bluray player would've made it cost as much as PS3 at launch so PS3 would be leading by now. Microsoft hasn't dominated this holiday and Sony STILL hasn't hit $199. Also those exclusives releasing during "dead weeks" will cause those weeks to become very lively for Sony. The 10 year lifecycle is alive and well as long as third parties support consoles and I don't see any reason to doubt it considering PS2 is on year what? 13? Sony will start selling PS3 in those same markets PS2 is still selling in once it's under $200 and we'll see another surge in sales.

Don't forgt PS3 launched %50 more expensive than xbox. That couple with the timing should have made Xbox double its sales but the fact that it's about to get passed outright just shows people still prefer PS on an even playing field (both out, same price) btw PS3 is still $50 more this year and outselling 360 despite being more expensive the whole gen.

The VGC will show for end of 2012 any number near 73.5m.
Edit - I checked again my prediction... I'm 400k for reach it in Europe and US... so I guess I'm on spot because there is two week datas yet.

The Gap in the holidays is too low to count... less than 200k... PS3 will win this year with 1.5m advantage (or more).

The 360 sold 50+ million more than the last console, has the biggest third party franchises on its platform, and is dominant in North America so I doubt any 360 fans will care if the PS3 ever does manage to pass the 360 (other than to roll their eyes at people trying to spin what amounts to a massive decline in marketshare and mindshare from last generation).
As for the Playstation brand having recovered, from where I'm sitting it doesn't dominate North America, Japan, UK, etc and Vita is basically a massive flop so to me that isn't even close to a recovery for the brand. As for that chance of taking the lead next generation we'll have to wait and see what happens but this past year has shown they're still far from their old selves.
So another 1.7m sold this year? In less than 3 weeks? Don't think so. Also i see you are using the old Sony chestnut of shipped vs sold. Well those 2m will have to be sold sometime so when is that gonna be? So you are basically saying all those extra 2m a year Sony ship will suddenly sell at the end of 2017, so in 2017 Sony will sell an amazing 17m? loooool. Also your shipment predictions for 2013 and 2014 are ridiculous. So many people in your other thread have told you so yet you refuse to listen to logic. Don't forget the Wii is a moving target but i forgot, i'm not talking to a reasonable poster.

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!
