Do you remember when everyone hated Twilight Princess? Now all of the sudden they love it, and hate Skyward Sword...Hmm, I wonder what's going here...

^It's that only the next game in the series makes the previous look better. There was a time when a new entry made the old game pale in comparison, which apparently isn't the case anymore, and should be telling where the series is currently going.

This is news to me!
I loved TP when it came out and I thought that was the general consensus..
Majora's mask on the other hand... Now THAT's a game that all of the hipsters suddenly loved after some time had passed. And I still hate it.
Cons:
...
Pros:
Gameplay; action/adventure games will not be the same after SS
Graphics: stunning, the dessert is just too awesome!
Dungeons: Simply stellar. A brillant lesson of game design.
story: Nice ending, sad yet full of hapiness.
Characters: Zelda is beautiful, weird NPCs, Fi is ok, not as good as midna but fine. Vilan turned out to be very helpful, the weapon seller dude just too awesome. the robot was crazy btw.
music: loved it. Maybe not as good as OoT but some nice tunes.
this two for instance:
Menx64
3DS code: 1289-8222-7215
NNid: Menx064

I'm not sure if its telling us anything about the series other than that some of the people who play it have issues. Issues regarding "hipster-ness." (Yeah... That's word...)

Majoras Mask has started receiving more praise nowadays than its original release because its still one of a kind. WW, TP, SS they all build on OOT where as MM is in its own class and unlike most modern Adventure games which have been influenced by OOT, there seriously is no game like MM. When i first played MM I was disatisfied because it didnt improve on OOT but after all the other games its cool to play a Zelda game that is different. Easily has the best Side Quests and NPC's in any game period.
^Actually there is a game like Majora's Mask, with slightly diffent objective though, and the game is Animal Crossing.
MM expanded the OoT "living world" idea and used looming death as a plot aswell. Ever since Aonuma took charge of Zelda, he's been driving Zelda overworld into non-existence, that started from MM and ST and SS seem to be the latest examples of the trend.

Looking at some CD-I scenes (not the ones with the King and Zelda, but mostly with villagers and other characters) there's potential there. Some situations are Zelda esque but more about the first games than the 3D ones.
What I mean, is that the "Error" guy in Zelda II fits better in this universe than in the one from TP or SS.

...I haven't played the first few Zelda games, but I have a hard time imagining similar situations in a "real" LoZ. Hm, but if you take the ridiculous animations away from the cutscenes you might be right...
