The new years is coming up which is a bigger holiday in Japan for console sales.

Not really, the PSP is just the more attractive option over the Vita. The 3DS even more so. I have a 3DS LL and I just bought myself a new PSP. Sure I could've gotten a Vita, but it's just not a very desirable machine. (lack of games/PSP BC only via DD/high price/overpriced memory cards...) I'd rather have a PSP.

It's not really the main game though, it's more like the 3rd version that usually releases (Emerald/Platinum/etc.) The sales for those are usually lower than the main games. AC on the DS sold over 5 million copies.

Those five million copies are after seven years of being on sale though. If we compare the first ten weeks we see that AC sold 1,7 million copies while Black/White 2 sold 2,6 million. Even the previous third entry, Pokémon Platinum, sold 1,9 million in its first ten weeks despite being one single version, so Black & White 2 outselling it is not unexpected.

Bottom line: Pokémon outselling AC is not a surprise. I should take back not calling it an amazing feat though since the Pokémon brand staying this strong for so long in Japan in itself is amazing.

Wii U holding up well?? it is doing really well considering there just about 15 games on its library right now, while PS3 has so many more. My expectation abut Wii U is that it will surpass any console sales on Japan (lifetime). My reasoning: handhelds are beasts among the japanese community, the Wii U shares handhelds characteristics. NINTENDOMINATION on Japan, selling 4 times more than anybody else together (Wii U+Wii+3DS+DS). I see, if Nintendo can do better on Europe that it will become profitable again, because of that I can't see why Nintendo is doomed.

For the equivalent time in 2006, the wii did 285k for the week if anyone at home is keeping track.

AC is cutting in line.

Those 3DS numbers are outstanding, same goes for Animal Crossing.

Expected AC to do well, but not that well.

Nice to see Vita doing more then 4k consoles. everything else is expected.
