No, that would be a very, very dumb decision, it is one of the only divisions they have that has the potential to rake in some much needed cash to improve relations with investors and raise them from the chasm they appear to have fallen into.
They need the PS brand more than ever if they want to stay relevant and afloat the next decade.

well BenV. i don't think the brand is damaged, and if it is, it can be repared. but rebranding doesn't sound bad either. Sony would have to get the word out.

they have to keep it. it's the only thing that saved the ps3 in many regions. dropping it would be a massive fail.

sony should keep the word play station in there next console. nintendo of MS still kept there consoles names.

I've gotten used to the Playstation name, but I've never liked it. It sounds like a Playschool toy not an adult's electronic entertainment device.

They probably shouldn't rename it now, but it's not the name I would have used to begin with. Even something like GameStation while a little more generic at least doesn't sound like a child's toy.

Sony will keep the 'playstation' name; not sure what will follow after 'playstation'.  Playstation Orbis ? Can't wait people, whatever is the name :)

change all the i devices to a devices.  aphone (pronounced "a phone") then every time you release another just call it anotherphone.  "Ladies and gentlemen our engineers looked into improving aphone and we've come up with something truly magical.  I'd like to present our precious jewel, anotherphone"

Nope. "Playstation" needs to stay, but the 4 can be thrown out if it is deemed inappropriate.

Regardless of what people think, Playstation is like the Windows of gaming, it is far too well known as the Playstation to chnage it's name now. It's like Nintendo changing it's name, its simply unthinkable
