I would be the dumbest idea ever but I agree they should not call their next console "4".

There you go.
I think it's a mistake enough that they abbreviate the PS3 and PSVita names too much.
"PlayStation 3" and "PlayStation Vita" should be written over console boxes, on the consoles themselves and on the game boxes at retail. Not just PS3 and PSVita - specially for Vita many people may be failing to associate it with a PlayStation product.
And on topic, Sony should keep the PlayStation brand.

Seems unlikely. That said, they may bring all their products in line and we might see a Playstation Xperia name for the home console, or their tablets and phones named Orbis if they go that route.
i would have to say no, Playstation brand is a solid name. Calling it Orbis might confuse some folks the Sony Obris. Everyone knows playstaion is a gaming brand.

WII U // PC // 3ds XL // VITA
That is a bad idea. PlayStation or PS is just right.
PlayStation is the most sold gaming console. Closing to 350 million.
Never, Sony would have to fall to the point of bankruptcy to leave the console market but even then they might still stay.
If they drop the "Playstation" name then they deserve another spot for the Biggest Mistakes in History thread.
