Yeah, I saw it. Was posting from my Wii U. By the time I finished, you replied.

I'm also not sure if i'd call a big pad with button motion control, or what amounted to standing on a joystick motion control either. I watched the show a lot but why did you bring up nick Arcade?

Still on my Wii U so sorry about the format.
Anyway, there were two shows on Nick that put you "inside the game". One had a game called Eat a Bug where you just slapped bugs out of the sky Fruit Ninja style with motion controls. Can't remember the name, though. This was early 90's stuff. If I were on my PC, I'd embed a video or something.

The other show was Nick Arcade. At the end, you actually went inside of a big Video Game, dodging blasts and climbing ladders and stuff. If that isn't "you are the controller", I don't know what is!

Yeah i remember that now. But was it really a computer program doing that? Or was it screen magic while they where really looking at something completely different. And why does the wiiU do that? It kinda bugs me. Add me I only have one friend on wii. Mmm_fish. That's right Nintendo doesn't like the word taco... or my cable box...

I'm gonna talk Vita here...

Keep in mind I'm a Vita owner and a huge fan of the system, but.....

Sony isnt marketing the Vita correctly. They're trying to push it as a portable PS3, which I think is hurting it. Great handhelds of the past, like the GBA and DS did so well because what they offered was much different than a home console. Handheld games have always been a step behind from their console counterparts, always have been more humble. I think that's part of the charm though. Most people are gonna look at the Vita and go "Well why not just get a PS3?". It's a fantastic device that Sony hasnt given a proper identity to.

Pretty much everything they did with the PS3.

Getting rid of all their IPs from the PS1 days. Playstation needs its own "Mario" more than ever now, but anything that came close to that status like Crash or Spyro was sold off.

crash was the one that got away for Sony.  He was Mario huge during PSone.  He had an awesome Kart racer too so the spinoffs were starting.  If they can buy Gaikai they can buy Crash back.

But at this point will it ever be as big as it once was? I mean activision destoryed him. I don't think there is any savign him with out Naugty Dog taking controll back, and even then it's iffy.

Lot's of pointless hate  (as one would expect)  in this thread, with some examples:

I think that the memory RAM split in half 2X 256MB it was a bad decision. Also the PS3 launch price for sure!

Wrong, the point was that half of the ram was the very fast and very expensive XDR ram.

Can't say anything beyond the CELL in the Playstation program really ranks up with the blunders has made as a company overall.

Wrong for two reasons. It was hard to code for but it did end up giving the best gfx of this console gen. And of course, consoles are supposed to have exotic/unique technology and not be stand alone direct-x boxes. Savvy ?

But back on track, I would say

1. The 600$ price tag for the PS3. They totally stepped on the good faith of their most loyal fans.

2. Losing Final Fantasy / Turning their back on their asian audience.

Let bring up the biggest pice of junk that Nintndeo ever made. I bet they wish they could erase that thing from everyone memory.

Nintendo didn't make the Power Glove.  I believe that was Mattel.

I think with the right marketing (wishful thinking with Sony) they could make it big again.  Obviously the game would have to be good, but if they got ND or someone else who they could market past games as examples of the quality it would really pay off.  Think about the commercial "The makers of Jak & Daxter, Uncharted, and the Last of Us return to their first Playstation classic *crash music kicks in as he falls in or some other clumsy move*" show some levels and show the crash dance of course.  Show it off at E3 maybe and make sure everyone knows this is different from those games as you introduce it.  I feel like there's a lot of old Crash fans, like myself, who bought the old ones in droves and will come back for the new ones.  I mean 2 and 3 sold over 7 million each so there's a lot of old fans willing to come back I think, and with word of mouth and good review scores (I assume it will be good if its made by ND) it could be huge again.

It was never sold off. Sony never owned those IP´s -.-

They were developed by 1st party devs, so I assumed that SONY owned those IPs. Either way, SONY still let them both get away.
