No chance in japan, there are other things at play there.  But Japan is less important this gen and will be even more so next gen.  Doesnt mater, They have competed amazingly well considering they only sell in two of the 3 main markets.  I doubt any console ahas ever achieved that.

When you had pretty much 0 presence, and that grows by 200%... yeah, its not that big of a deal In the US and UK it made mirtacles tough, and even in Japan it managed to have a decent growth :))

That was because of the Wii, which did great numbers at this time. Xbox got their fair part as well

The PS3 was fucked by Sony with a huge price tag, realizing it almost 2 years after the Xbox 360 in Europe. Sony was cocky, so it backfired on them. But they made progress , they gave us great library of games. The PS3 has a huge comeback story to tell, soon though. 

The Dreamcast was the successor of a flop and it failed. That is not the case for the PS3. The PS3 had by far the best starting position of any console ever before, because the PS2 is the best selling console of all time and it totally ruined that.

The PS2 is still selling, they didn't ruin shit. We are talking about about a console bound to sell close 100 million vs one that sold less than 20 million and its parent company had to stop making console. Get your bias straight. 


yes, the dreamcast failed I am not deying that even though I still love it.

But compared to their predecessor, the PS3 is a bigger disappointment.



Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Canada, Mexico, Brazil are all countries where Xbox is very strong, way more than Playstation. Also AUS Xbox has been doing great there.

I do believe the next xbox is going to huge, but mostly in North America and the UK. MS is going market it better than Sony, they have the momentum in the US at the moment, I don't see them losing it. Will that be enough though, they lose yearly to the PS3 now, what's going to change?

360 is older, anything can change next gen, also US sales for 720 at first will be massive in U.S, look at Wii back in 2008 doing 4m in December U.S Alone =)

They are both old. And the 360 is no Wii, and never will be. 

Sit back and Watch next gen Xbox sales in the U.S. will make Wii look bad

Keep thinking that.

360 will outsell Wii in the U.S and Next Xbox will crush everything there.

Are you sure about Brazil?

The latest research made by GFK here... April 2012.

- 31% of Brasilians have at least one console (60 milllion)
- PlayStation 2 is still the most popular console.
- PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 come after in popularity.
- PlayStation 3 have more maket share but seems like the Xbox 360 is almost tying because the manufacturing of the console here (cheaper).
- Wii is not mentioned.
- Consoles sales here growed up 53% in 2011... from 642k units in 2010 to 935k units in 2011.
- The market are migrating from pirated to official but 17% of the salres are official yet.

So in any moment the research showed the 360 is over PS3 here... the PS2 is the king in sales, after that PS3 and then 360... but the research says that the 360 is coming close to the PS3 after it became to be  manufactured here... the price helps that R$1399 for PS3 and R$799 for 360... almost twice expensive. The pirated market helps the 360 too because it have easy unlock.

That's what I know here... in resume the Playstation is way more strong here than Xbox.

And people question where the PS2 is selling yet... I can bet over 50% of these 935k units were PS2... so near 500k PS2 sold here in Brazil last year. 

Now I have to wait the next research early 2013.

@Argh_College... I found a new research made in November 2012.

- Official games sales increased 150% from Jan 2011 to Jan 2012
- The official games are 27% more cheaper now (expensive yet)
- 3.5 million games sold from January to September 2012 (R$350 million revenue... ~US$170 million... 91% up compared to 2011)
- 640k consoles sold from January to September 2012... 59% up compared to 2011
- 40% of the sales are Action games, 18% are Sports games

Seems like this year we will break the 1 million consoles sold... amazing... at this rate near 1.5 million consoles is expected to be sold in 2012.
