Forums - Nintendo - A look at a WiiU

From the same man who brought you that PSVita video, here's one for the WiiU!

Still watching now, so I don't have any opinions, but they're always entertaining so I decided to post it here :)

I was watching this video just now haha.

Just finished watching it. Major letdowns are:

1) Price or digital games.
2) Loading times for switching from one app to another.
3) Low-quality ports.
4) Zombi U's low quality.

It's upsetting. Hopefully some will still fund this so Nintendo can use the funds to make it all better as they improve at this HD thing.

you mean a newer console?

loading times are probably because of two things, crappy CPU and bloated software, I think nintendo should have waited a bit to release this thing, they released it way too early to catch up to christmas , but they didn't have the time to optimize the OS, this can be fixed with a firmware, but if its CPU that is crappy then thats a problem.

I'd wait a bit to know for sure, since they might release a newer firmware to fix this, OR they might release a newer model with better CPU and better battery life for the controller.

That, and convincing 3rd parties to do a proper job, as the market grows. Hard to justify effort on quality when it's not certain that people would be paying for it.

I agree, the WiiU's HW capabilities are underwhelming and hint at a premature launch. At least they should release a more powerful version in the next year or two that's backwards compatible with the current version but just ensures that games can make use of a more powerful CPU and that the menu can be much faster. It's dinosaur tech at that kind of OS loading speed. Comparing that to my roomie's PC on steam big picture view and you have a huge difference in performance.

the CPU should by all means be fast enough to load the menu way faster than that especially considering there seems to be 1GB of ram reserved for the OS alone - imo that can only be some buggy programming and I expect this to be ironed out pretty quickly

Isn't that Blunty?

I love the Wii / Wii U packaging. Comes in trays.

EDIT: Nope, just sounds a LOT like him.

they should be able to fix the slowness of the os

VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3

I liked his accent.

Interesting video. They really kept the menu design they had with Wii in this console. I suppose that's a good thing, familiarity.

Shame about the loading times, but I'm sure it'll improve with firmwares.
