It's dinosaur tech at that kind of OS loading speed. Comparing that to my roomie's PC on steam big picture view and you have a huge difference in performance.

the CPU should by all means be fast enough to load the menu way faster than that especially considering there seems to be 1GB of ram reserved for the OS alone - imo that can only be some buggy programming and I expect this to be ironed out pretty quickly

That's reassuring. Honestly kind of a show-stopper for me since I'm a pick-up-and-play gamer.

Just finished watching it. Major letdowns are:

1) Price or digital games.
2) Loading times for switching from one app to another.
3) Low-quality ports.
4) Zombi U's low quality.

It's upsetting. Hopefully some will still fund this so Nintendo can use the funds to make it all better as they improve at this HD thing.

you mean a newer console?

loading times are probably because of two things, crappy CPU and bloated software, I think nintendo should have waited a bit to release this thing, they released it way too early to catch up to christmas , but they didn't have the time to optimize the OS, this can be fixed with a firmware, but if its CPU that is crappy then thats a problem.

I'd wait a bit to know for sure, since they might release a newer firmware to fix this, OR they might release a newer model with better CPU and better battery life for the controller.

That's just not going to happen. I think the load times are due to Miiverse running in the background all the time.(Does it? I'm not sure)

it's funny how the Wii has a faster OS than WiiU even though it's a lot more powerful!

but the WiiU had to release so they thought they could do an update as soon as the OS was really finished!

I don't think there's a specific reason for this problem. Nintendo said they were going to fix it, so it definitely is a software problem and not a hardware one.

Oh, the thing runs at about the same speed as Wii if you're just trying to get to disc games. It's switching between apps that's the slow one.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

The video was pretty fairly done, it showed legitimate complaints with the system, though some updates have improved things, (AC III is running far better now for example) I disagree about ZombiU but the game will not appeal to everyone. What he said about basic vs deluxe is also true, although the 10% off downloads is pretty nice as well. Basic plus a good sized external hard drive is fine. A good comprehensive review.

The load time is a problem with software not hardware, and I would be disappointed if it was not corrected shortly.

I thought his description of the glitches in ac:3 sounded pretty similar to those I've experienced in the ps3 version.

Pretty amusing video though...not as negative as I was expecting overall and fairly accurate.

i'm going to tag this so i can watch it later

That's good to know.

Yeah, I tend to play a lot of virtual console and wii-ware type games, I use the apps a lot (sometimes more than games), I'm a big Netflix user and on the 3DS I use the e-shop and swapnote regularly. The slowness would really be a burden for me (it's already tiresome on the Wii and the 3DS). Hopefully it gets fixed, otherwise I may pass until the next Mario or Zelda. (It would be my first time not buying a Nintendo console at launch since the SNES).

that was an interesting watch, looks good to me

i guess loading times are fairly annoying if you haven't got used to them yet,in game sand updates

this guy seems to think zombieu is overhyped anyway
