Izo said: Very good points. Can't wait to see what a 170 vita can do versus a 170 3DS. |
3DS will alwais will be cheaper than Vita!!! if Vita go Price drop Nintendo don't wait and will to price drop to 3DS
Do not think more, because Nintendo has the strategy one step ahead !!

It matched the sales...it just took longer, and even at a higher price. 3ds was 250, vita was 250 and 300 and required a memory card on top of that. So, something like 10% more expensive with half the fanbase. |
What I'm saying is comparing the vita to probably the most dissappointing launch is history, and saying it did comparable to that is not something that should be considered an accomplishment. It's still doing terrible and sony has little they can do to fix that issue.
Nintendo was able to fix the problem by cutting the price by $80 and releasing a handful of first party games that will go on to be 10mil+ sellers.
Sony has no way of fixing their problem. They can't afford to cut the price so drastically. And they don't have any mega first party games that sell 4mil+, let alone 10mil+ on handhelds. Their only hope lies with Rockstar, Activision, and Capcom. Activision already showed its not interested in making a good call of duty for the vita. Capcom seems to have moved its monster hunter franchise over to nintendo. Grand Theft Auto for the vita hasn't even been announced yet.

Nice spin. But considering how DOOMED 3DS was considered during those 5 months, how "grim" it looked for that console at that time, yeah, it looks VERY grim for Vita. Have you seen Japanese sales? No Holiday boost whatsoever this year. |
i understand you're hurt, but i never called 3ds doomed.

I wasn't being sarcastic. 3DS was in dire straights 5 months after launch. There was a reason they dropped the price so dramatically.

And Sony is going to sell more than 1.7 million consoles until the end of March?
Even though Expections in hardware sales was much higher, Vita isn't doing that bad! I dont own one but i told several people (even though only 2 people listened!!!) that black fridays deal 199.99 bundled (179.99 amazon) was worth the price! Dont think Vita will get a major price cut like 3ds had!
To be honest they might not even have a price cut... They might just include memory card or bundle game as they have for the holiday! I can see
$199.99 Coming around Feb or March for a price cut
or keep it at $249.99 but include several different deals(free memory/bundle game/free playstation plus/etc)
This IMO

Studios are going to be split so thin with all the new hardware, I can see Vita being left behind, much like PSP was once PS3 was released. |
I have a Vita and a Wii U...among other systems. The Vita looks less impressive compared to playing games like COD Blops2 and Trine 2 on the Gamepad.
Stop hating and start playing.
@kynes
regarding the time period.
Vita would have done considerably better were
a) the console ACTUALLY 250$
b) 3ds not dropped in price, causing potential purchasers to be diverted
c) monster hunter been announced as expected
lots of unforeseen events happened along the way, don't fault people for circumstances eveolving suddenly.

As I said, every dark cloud has a silver lining. You can find whatever excuses you want but Vita is selling less than half what Sony predicted not so long ago, they had to make temporal price cuts in Europe and huge sales during Black Friday, and they still sell less than the DS worldwide, a console that sells nothing in Japan and most parts of Europe. If you want to believe that the Vita will sell tons of hardware when Sony sells it at the $199 price point, it's up to you, but the Vita is in a much much worse place than the PSP was during its first year.
