Because Ubisoft was happy will the games sales which accounts for both the bundled and standalone game. Which makes this game a success for Ubisoft. If Ubisoft was satisfied with the games sales then why shouldn't it be an indicator or reasons for them to bring other franchises to the platform? |
becaues it required a bundle...?
I'm not sure how much simpler I can explain this. You either need to step back and re-read this... or are trying to stealth troll by feigning ignorance.
I'll try one more time though within an exagerrated example... using a different platform and company. Just in case that helps for you.
Say next year the next COD game comes to the Wii U.... and it sells as much as the 360 version... because Nintendo bundled it with Wii U's and also offered any nintendo published game 75% off if you bought it stand alone.
Would it then make sense to Activision to say "Wow what a great success!" and then release another similar big franchise game, but with less name brand appeal, with no similar deal?
Or would it make more sense to say "Good that was a success" and then be more pragmatic because the success was in large part fueled by the special deal made.

Assuming that every single USA sale of the game came from a bundle (just to satisfy the nay-sayers in this thread), the game has sold 200k worldwide in all other regions. That puts it 80k below the best selling DS Assassin's Creed's lifetime sales, and 90k less than the same studio's previous game (Ghost Recon Shadow Wars).
Liberation sold 35k outside the USA last week, so given similar holiday sales for the remaining weeks, it'll pass the lifetime sales of both those games before next year. Any more sales after that would just be gravy.
So how do you measure success? Better than other handheld games of the same IP? Well it's about to do that without a single bundle sale (if it hasn't already), apart from Bloodlines for PSP - which I believe is horrendously overtracked, but I won't go there now.
Alternatively, do you measure it against the studio's previous work? Well, it'll surpass that at some point in the next few weeks too without a single bundle sale (if it hasn't already).
There's problems with this argument of course. Shadow Wars has had 18 months to sell, Liberation has had two. Assassin's Creed is the much bigger IP, but Vita is a much smaller userbase. We have no idea how many copies of Liberation have been sold without the bundle. A DS Assassin's Creed might not be comparable to a 3DS one.
So at the end of the day, best to Ubisoft is probably to take a bundle if Sony or Nintendo offer it. Or just don't develop handheld games at all. Or if they do, develop them for android and ios.

Do you think Ubisoft made a bundle deal with Sony without them estimating how it will preform. When Ubisoft said that they where satisfied will the games sales then the game met the companies expectation. I wont deny most of the sales are from bundles, but If Ubisoft is satisifed with them bundles then they can decare it a success.
Success here for Ubisoft is that the game made them profit. Wouldn't it make sense for them to invest more in the system that made them profits.
Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

Far Cry is unlikely |
Platinum Games may be able to do a good reboot. damn that movie.

I dont think Ubisoft will be willing to outsource a IP that they own to Platinum games....there's a higher chance of Capcom outsourcing DMC series it to Platinum Games and that wont happen either. |
good point. how ya been?

Stop trolling man, I would expect more from a mod. This game is a success. It sold and is still selling great. We all know it was bundled. Recently the sales of other Vita games also picked up, just look at Persona 4G - 400k and it's still not even out in Europe. And that's not thanks to bundles. You have no argument proving that the game would do bad or wouldn't be a success without the bundle, so really stop trolling. Everyone knows it would sell worse, but nobody can say by what a margin and you can't prove that it would flop. This would be a must-have Vita title with or without the bundle and would sell anyway. The fact is, it is a success. There is no doubt in my mind that Ubi earned cash on this title and is really happy about the sales and the effect it had on the core gamers community, by showing them and their game as the saviors of the console.
Think again about the fact, that the recent surge in Vita sales means that people that who didn't want to buy Vita are willing to buy the console to play ACIII:L. That is a success no matter what you say and practically guarantees a sequel.
Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/
My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.
barring Black Friday... why would somebody buy the ACIII:L Bundle if they didn't want ACIII:L? There are plenty of other identically priced bundles with other software. (FIFA 13, NFS:MW, COD, LBP etc) so actually it wasn't "free", people specifically chose THAT game with their console
It's not the same as when a special bundle package is included with every system (Forza/extra pad etc a few years ago) or pack ins like Wii Sports where you got the software whether you wanted it or not, it's actually a conscious decision to get that software with the system.
