I'm not adding a poll as they tend to be biased and inaccurate, I want good explanations to what you all think.

You did the right thing!! I've learned that the hard way

lol yeah I've got annoyed by it so I'll probably leave them out in future threads if it has anything to do with seperate pllatforms

I've been thinking the same thing! People simply vote for their favorite console without really thinking about it, and just move on without giving any explanation

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I have a hard time picturing this PConsole being successful... When you game on your PC its with the mouse and keyboard, and I would imagine that few livingroom tables are high enough to allow for that set up. Many families already has a PC, which they use to do homework and work on, sharing it. It would be a really niche market that would buy a PConsole. And Valve don't have the kind of 1st party games that pushes a system. I guess it'll sell like... 10m-20m units, but probably closer to 10 going by what little we know now.

I play Dark Soul's, Batman etc with gamepad just fine with better graphics on PC. Annnd I can remap buttons in every game I use it for, if the developer chooses a bad scheme. There are HTPC's that aren't much bigger than the fat PS3's.

I agree it will be niche. But valves big cash cow isn't going to be this console imo. It's going to be steam. Take away say 5 million console players. Add 5 million of people that already own another console, but not a PC.

You already have an existing userbase of 50 million steam users, just adding that you increase it by 20%. There's logistic issues than consoles. But the way I see it, This is an entry point into the gaming PC market for people otherwise intimidated.

Stream only has 8 million active members I saw that on this site article.

50 million have sign on at some point of its existence.

Yeah, but there's a lot of games that can't be played using ordinary gamepads. How you gonna play Total War or Civilization? It'll suck monkey balls.

valves console/PS needs to pack the power of a PC or PC gamers will look away, and thier console will fail as a result.

and yes i'm sure 4 consoles can surevive, as can five. they just need dedicated fans. i'll likely get all but nextbox.

my purchase of Ouya, is dependent on wether i can dev. on the system or not.

What if the Steam Box is a transmitter of sorts that:

1) Wirelessly connects your PC to your TV
2) Plug your controller into the little "Steam Box" to synch with your PC too

That would be epic. =D

I still don't understand the steam thing? is it basically a gimped PC?

If I already have a PC why would I buy it?

Looks that it will be a PC, in a compact case (similar to a console), with controllers and easy support to use on TVs. Probably, it will be able to automatically adjust the settings on games to work with good framerates without any configuration made by the user.

All games that come from consoles have controller support now, Even games that were initally PC exclusive (Witcher) have gamepad support. So the argument that you can't use gamepads on PC's. Obviously there's exclusives on consoles PC don't get.

However there are some games that just aren't viable to be played without a mouse and keyboard. And then you can play with a mouse and keyboard. But if you don't like Mouse and Keyboard which was your argument. You won't like games like civilization or total war anyways because it is not viable to be played without it.

There's obvious advantages over  a game console for this. But if done correctly it can be a viable alternative to consoles in the living room without learning how to make a HTPC that can play games.

Count Ouya as well as the handhelds.

The market is already saturated therefore it will be interesting to see how much marketshare each gets next generation.

I think you missunderstood me. I PLAY Total War and Civilization, but it wouldn't be doable on my TV since my livingroom table/my couch table/coffe table is way to low for me to have my mouse and keyboard on it while playing these games. And that's why I think the steambox while only cater to a none-strategic-playing niche. A plain old PC is better suited for these kind of games.

DanneSandin does make a point, unless all games are adpted to controllers including games like this.  Then it would come down to preference.  Does Civ have controller support?  I dont play those games so Idk
