Why do you ignore Ouya?

Because its easy to... and the market will.

It'll be a surprise if something different happens.

I think Valve may have trouble here. One of the main points of PC gaming is the more powerful system that can be upgraded instead of being replaced. If they don't offer that than they could very well lose alot of sales from the people most likely to be drawn to the idea, PC gamers. What does it give them when they can already just hook their PC up to there TV?

I don't know about any of the other console gamers on here, but I'm not interested in the "Valvebox". What can it do that a PlayStation or Xbox can't?

Better deals and bigger library of digital games.  PC has a lot of exclusives in the RTS and indie area as well.

i dont think a majority of pc gamers have super powerful computers. I game on my pc becuase its cheaper to buy games, better and easier to download games, and more control options. Just have to wait for valve to release some motion controls (maybe they did already i know they working on it)

Maybe they can buy OnLive and try to push that. They then get the PC gaming market, and its late to market AAA titles, and run MMOs.

I'm not adding a poll as they tend to be biased and inaccurate, I want good explanations to what you all think.

You did the right thing!! I've learned that the hard way

the Ouya is a different type of console. as i hear it, even consumers can dev. on the platform.

Valve will fail. Portal and that other game are the only games that will drive the system, and that's worth, wht 10-15m for thier system?

then again, PC gamers could be the ones picking this up.

Ouya is said to be priced at $99, so success is dependent on support and word of mouth, depending on wht it's capable of, and if it's actualy a console that aspiring dev's can dev. on.

according to this link, valves console is a PC with little flex ability, so it's not ideal for dev. in the console market. http://www.gamrreview.com/news/89562/valve-confirms-its-making-a-home-console/

and i think valves console will likely be priced around $149-$249. $149 is wht valve should be aming for. neither platform is comp. let alone serious comp. for the big 3.

I have a hard time picturing this PConsole being successful... When you game on your PC its with the mouse and keyboard, and I would imagine that few livingroom tables are high enough to allow for that set up. Many families already has a PC, which they use to do homework and work on, sharing it. It would be a really niche market that would buy a PConsole. And Valve don't have the kind of 1st party games that pushes a system. I guess it'll sell like... 10m-20m units, but probably closer to 10 going by what little we know now.

I play Dark Soul's, Batman etc with gamepad just fine with better graphics on PC. Annnd I can remap buttons in every game I use it for, if the developer chooses a bad scheme. There are HTPC's that aren't much bigger than the fat PS3's.

I agree it will be niche. But valves big cash cow isn't going to be this console imo. It's going to be steam. Take away say 5 million console players. Add 5 million of people that already own another console, but not a PC.

You already have an existing userbase of 50 million steam users, just adding that you increase it by 20%. There's logistic issues than consoles. But the way I see it, This is an entry point into the gaming PC market for people otherwise intimidated.

lol yeah I've got annoyed by it so I'll probably leave them out in future threads if it has anything to do with seperate pllatforms

It's only going to be three and the steam box is going to attract only PC gamers and seems to be gateway drug for PC gaming.
